What everyone in ARR needs now is Campaign!!!

SRSly, Campaign is fun, last a good hour now and gives a bunch of rewards! In ARR, it can be a better system than FATE, reward GILs, SEALs and some exp. I could be linked with frontline events.

I though SE learned how MMOs worked! 9__9

I wanted something that I don't have to group up for, that I don't have to be a certain level for, can dress as I please and is pertinent to the season, fates are fine with me...sorry most of you seem to dislike them..while I think they are quite enjoyable. Happy Christmas everyone

I don't mind doing them myself, and find it relaxing when I'm playing by myself and don't feel like being social.
    Some suggestions though...

1- Make every FATE have a method of initiating it. Perhaps once X amount of enemies in a certain area are killed it could trigger a fate, or perhaps hide an item in the zone and once it's picked up and placed at a certain location have the fate initiate. Put a 5 minute repop on the trigger item and I'm sure nobody would complain of the wait time.

2- Interactive FATEs. How about a FATE that suits everyone up in magitek and you have to shoot targets to win, or a FATE using the cannons from Castrum. Maybe a FATE where Chocobos have to be ridden for an objective. Things like that to make it more interesting.

3- FATEs that drop items. I know some FATEs will drop minions, but how about a FATE that doles out some tomestones or maybe some armors. There could be ways to adjust who gets a set quantity of X item, to keep from over-rewarding.

And yes, I like FATEs in that I can come and go at will - they're like Campaign Battles from FFXI only more open. If you don't like FATEs, go do something else. Go ahead, call me a 'white knight', it's a badge I wear with pride (being a PLD and all).
The white knight/pld thing was cute. Hey I guess I am a white knight too because I have this nasty habit of only playing and paying for games I actually enjoy.

I like FATES too but I don't really exp with them, I prefer levees for exp but I will do both at the same time and I enjoy it a lot. I also like the NPC dialog in the FATES. Doing FATE parties in costa del sol has been some of the most fun times I have had in this game and I would not like to see it gone. I enjoy the ability to do it at will and the cyclical time stamps.

Also if people don't like it, perhaps change them or something, maybe return equal experience to free range mobs. Phase in a new type of FATE with more challenge and make that type appear less often, kind of the way the Lightning Returns FATE would spawn in the same spot and use mechanics from the original FATE that was there before. Sort of like having two versions of the same FATE there so that people can try both. Devs can measure which content is more favorable by having both choices. I imagine though, If devs require more skill to complete a FATE so that you cannot win by zerging, there will definitely be a mass of complaints about that too.

Waiting for the seasonal event Fates was also fun meeting new people. I like the mechanics of the current seasonal event FATE and especially loved the summer event FATE the most. When they first came out, people really really liked FATES and begged for more of them, I think its a case of burnout now and some alt content would work for them but doing away with them all together, I hope not.

@ Jeffro I like your suggestions and would like to see the current FATE system in addition to the ideas but as usual I am not for the all or nothing option and for the multiple varieties instead.

I agree it was ok for me because I got in on the rish on a day off. So it all worked out, but I just saw a group the other day that was in the Sahagin area they had 20 seconds left on the fate and the boss mob was almost dead. However the dps was just not fast enough and they failed. I didn't notice in time to help out unfortunately. I felt bad for them because they were clearly upset and on top of that they have to wait another ungodly amount of hours.

I liked the swimsuit event because it spawned so fast - fate while - its takes 30 mins per pop during some of the new holiday ones >.< Bit of a stretch.

I never agree with anything Shiyo ever has to say since all they do is complain about every single thing but this one thing, I'm in agreement on. Fates in and of themselves are not a bad thing you go in get some xp and go on your way but when they are tied to every quests and event that comes out it gets pretty damn annoying. I would like to see some proper quests that don't involve fates, something with at least a semblance of creativity like they used to do in FFXI.

I sure do enjoy having someone else's opinion forced down my throat! Except no. The opposite of that.

YOU may dislike FATEs, but don't you ever assume that everyone else thinks the same as you. I'm regularly running around finding FATEs to do, just because I want to. It's also acquiring further gil/seals/exp. I know plenty of people that enjoy doing the FATEs.

So.. Speak for yourself only, kthx.

I really don't mind fates for events, but I rather liked some of XI's events better, more ordinary quests like killing things under a level cap or even imitating a dancer's moves or other little minigames.

I don't think they should STOP using fates but I think they should also employ more variety.

FATEs themselves can be fun and enjoyable. They only stop being so when there are too many players in the same one. Up to about 24 is usually ok, but I prefer doing them with fewer people. NM FATEs I tend to enjoy soloing, or with a very small group (3-4 people). Personally, I'd rather see storyline events (like those involved in CT) being 4 or 8 man Trial-like instances instead of FATEs, perhaps something along the same lines as guildhests but a little more challenging.

For seasonal events, though, they need to be available to anyone of any level, and FATE are an easy solution. Some additional creativity to the way events flow would be nice, and something a little more involved than "do this a couple of times and you can buy all your items". There's often a long period of time between seasonal events, and it would be great if the development could actually put some good thought into it and make it something special and engaging. Currently, you spend about 30 minutes doing it (most of that waiting for FATEs to spawn), and it's all over. It's a little saddening.
