I think if anything the roulette needs to be expanded so that you can end up in literally ANY story mission that needs party members. Making it solely for level 50 dungeons doesn't seem particularly helpful. If someone was actually trying to complete it for their progression, then roulette could genuinely help people who need it rather than exist solely to group people who have probably already completed their story.

This is already done in the "Low level" roulette.

People frequently get Ifrit and I've even heard of someone getting a Titan with it. The XP bonus for helping that is really good too if you're sub-50 (assuming you are already capped on tomes and don't care about Philosophy if you have a 50...)

45 - 60 minutes for 300 tomes as opposed to 80 tomes for 20 - 30 minutes? The average WP run takes 20 minutes. For the majority of players gearing up with Philo Tomes, 300 tomes in an hour is a godsend.

I actually did this for the first time and had a few people saying "hey let that new guy watch this". People surprisingly followed through and allowed me to finish up until the last boss. Which by the time I got out of the cut scenes the last boss was at 3% hp haha... I don't blame them because i can always run through it as many times as i want later. But I would rather not skip a cut scene because I really want to experience the story as much as I can.

Or you just watch it in your Inn...once I knew you could do that I sat down and watched all the cut scenes again later.

yah some people want to experience it, but honestly, maybe it's just me, I didn't notice a difference watching it later.

I love doing the main scenario roulette. I think the 200 tome bonus is more than fair, and I also get a lot of commendations from running these. Every single time I've gone there's been at least 3 new players, and I kindly and patiently explain each boss to the group. I get at least two commendations each time. These may mean little to you, but every time I leave a dungeon and see that I've been commended, it makes me happy.

Best part about watching cutscenes in the Inn, is that whenever your character is supposed to be in it, it shows you in whatever you were wearing when you opened the cutscene book. Yes, you can stare down Gaius while clad in naught but your undies.

I find this to be quite amusing, considering there's even level 50s doing the lowbie roulette. so far I've had at least one lvl 50 in every run I've done since the patch

This is especially true if you where wearing fugly gear at an important cutscene, it's nice to watch it back later in nicer looking gear. A shame you're alone when you watch then in the inn though, it looks much more heroic and awesome if there are 7 other people in the CS with you.

That situation with the last boss is usually the result of a really annoying bug that causes some party members to start the fight right in the middle of the arena and thus instantly getting aggro as soon as they skip the cutscene. I usually just tell my parties to stop doing damage if it happens, he doesn't really do much besides an occasional AOE.

With regards to the OP though: 300 philo/hr is the highest rate in the game if you're specifically after philosophy for some reason. It is more than worth it to many players.
