what class NOT SPEC was unviable in wow in bc or wotlkLMAO
did you used WoW, a prime example of of a mmo screwing over its pve side so badly that some classes became COMPLETELY NONVIABLE IN NEITHER CONTENT,in it sad attempts to balance pvp, as your point? ya no, sorry ...try again, balance between pve and pvp cant be done as one side will always scream "OP" or "OMG Y U NERF" because the other side doesnt like the current class balance.
if everyone has a problem with your class being op and its overwhelmingly agreed upon do u think everyones bad and ur a god at pvp or do you step back and look at some mechanics and see theres a reason people are crying nerf?
i see you have no repy to either of my points good try to defending op classes and skills better luck next time
I'm less worried about classbalance (a bunnyhopping SMN/SCH team is hilarious but FOTM will change sooner or later) assuming Square Enix will balance the PVP aspect of the game more often than the usual three month content cycle. They need to adress fundamental things such as "Arena Frames", fix the "Bunnyhopping/Desync" bug/exploit, add an optional "Ready Check" for both teams to bypass the 2 min wait and such though. Meanwhile until things get fixed this whole PVP thing is a decent timekiller/grind I guess, nothing more and nothing less (assuming you are used to PVP in other games).
exploits need to be taken care of asap that goes without saying but even with no exploits balance will be an issue. melee do not have a movement speed slow that is a big problem as a melee further compounded by the fact that animations take so long on top of the server not registering where your target is quickly enough for you to respond hard to hit a target when all thats in play unless your a ranged and dont need to worry about distanceI'm less worried about classbalance (a bunnyhopping SMN/SCH team is hilarious but FOTM will change sooner or later) assuming Square Enix will balance the PVP aspect of the game more often than the usual three month content cycle. People, do realize you can always see when the SMN is casting raise right? It's not that overpowered. As a PLD if I'm not harassing the healer I sometimes go after the SMN if he's not getting burned down already. If you pay attention and look at animations you can see when he swiftcasts raise and from there you can see where the person will get up if you are paying attention like you should. Depending on how and where they are you can either sprint to them or not and by the time they get up and burned them down.
Especially if it's a healer. They get up, circle of scorn, silence them, and burn them down before they can do anything and most of the time they are dead. Chances are a good team will still be on the summoner so even if they are trying to heal the raised person that's essentially taking two people out of the action at that time. That raise isn't that overpowered just play smart people jeez. It's OP to people not paying attention and mindlessly running around trying to burn down people without paying attention. He's a tip. Everyone can focus target now, use it in pvp. Put it somewhere you can always see what people are casting and then you can make better educated decisions on targets. SMN's are not OP, especially if you have materia in your gear. Get HQ gear and fill it up. Play smarter people and stop complaining as much.
There was a reason even World of Warcraft disabled instant cast battle-rez in Arenas.
I find BRD's a bit more annoying just as much as BLM's. They have resistance materia and pvp ability breaks for a reason. I mostly pvp in all games I play and FFXIV isn't so bad. Everyone has a niche combo or ability that can be used that makes it interesting. I like the two minute wait times because it gives me a chance to see how people normally play and TALK with them. See how they like to go about their strategies and then you can get all on the same page. I would hate like 30 seconds then just run out and be unorganized. Almost all of the people complaining about people being OP haven't really said why in detail, what they are doing in PVP and whatnot etc. Their opinions are valid, but I don't think it's as bad as everyone is crying out to be. I think most of the issue is just bad players and or people new to pvp.
True, but the arena's in WOW were much bigger areas and it would of been lot harder to predict where people would be raised. It really isn't that hard in FFXIV. Battle rez in WOW is a lot faster animation then ffxiv as well. Like I said, it's easy to counter if you pay attention and or focus target the summoner to see when exactly he is casting.
The arena size is roughly the same to the starting arenas given. I'd say the Lordaeron arena is actually smaller than the one we have in FFXIV, but that one came later.True, but the arena's in WOW were much bigger areas and it would of been lot harder to predict where people would be raised.
