Ran the instance 8 times. I ended up leading all 8 times because there were either really horrible players or first timers. Did not get a single loot for my Bard. Ended up needing to greed on something last night that I didn't want due to the reset today, but I still didn't win. Reasons why Crystal Tower is a waste of time:

Did you think you will get an item in the 8 times you run it? I did Garuda hundreds of times and only saw 1 PLD sword and 1 WAR axe, a bunch of whm and blm stuff but that was about it. I would go PLD since I queue faster but never got a DRG weapon even when no DRG was present and I would use greed on all three primal fights. I had to beat titan with Darklight Spear for my DRG relic. Does that mean primals are useless since I didnt get my drop?

1. There's a higher chance of not getting the piece of gear you want no matter how many times you run it in a week than there is that you'll get what you want.

Welcome to MMO's! There are 9 Jobs 4 roles and some roles have gear split into 2 or 3 (bard drg mnk for DPS) so lets say 6 possible (job) items. You get 3 drops on coil so you have a 1 in 6 chance per chest. but that doesn't mean because you didn't get it the 1st time it becomes 2 in 6 the next time. It's just Luck, I got PLD pants in my 2nd run in CT and in coil I have seen more DRG pieces drop than DRGs we have in the group, they are pretty much free lot. It's something you will just have to deal with when you play MMO's

2. It's not the best gear in the game, and honestly, you don't need it to progress through Coil since Coil is on a 1 week lockout. You can do turns 1 and 2 just fine in Dark Light gear. My party did it in AK gears.

I don't understand this point. What does a 1 week coil lockout have to do with anything? It's useless because there is harder content? and Better gear? So should they never release new lower level items since we had relic zenith and Allagan? I don't know about you but a lot of people want to gear a 2nd class, main class is coil drops off class is CT and 3rd can be DL. Better management of the resources the game gives you allows you to have more classes in Better gear. Also lvl 80+ gear isnt what people need for T1 and T2, its T4 and T5.

3. It's extremely stressful to have to deal with the amount of shear idiocy in a 24 man group and come out with nothing over and over again.

Relax, you are getting stressed because you are trying to control a group of 24, when you seem to lack the enthusiasm of being there. By this post I can tell you don't like being in CT and have no idea why you are there if you dont even need or want the gear, and if i can tell that by not playing with you, i'm sure people playing with you can tell. Don't take it the wrong way but it seems you lack leadership skills. Find a good Leader in your party tell him what to do, and let him relay that to the alliance. Pressure is off you and you can sit back and relax, and sing some songs mister bard.

I don't understand this point. What does a 1 week coil lockout have to do with anything? It's useless because there is harder content? and Better gear? So should they never release new lower level items since we had relic zenith and Allagan? It seems like you would be better off just getting them DL > Alleghan if you are going to gear up to raid. Restrictions are way too tough for alt gear.

I got a pair of DRG boots nobody wanted, so that's one less DL piece I'll need to buy for whenever I eventually level it up. Got my one piece of loot for the week - Mission Accomplished.

Too many people are too dumb to understand your logic good sir. People are too dumb to realize that you can do Coil 1, 2 and 4 with full DL set which can be gotten in a full day rather than facing the CT RNG. Even with full CT set, you can't run Coil 5 so what's the point of getting it? You need full ilvl90 gears to run Coil 5.

Yes this right here, b/c it's not burnt into my brain permanently like WP n AK. Good fun for tome farming assuming you get a decent alliance, and there will be a vanity slot one day they say so why not the gear looks pretty cool def better than DL any day for the most part.

The game is designed like most MMO's to have a long lifespan. If your character is decked out in 24 hours then they will lose players. It's a way to keep people coming back for more. Same with Daily quests and everything. And what you seem to be forgetting is you can mix and match gear. For example my PLD is ilvl 85 now, it is mainly Allagan/myth/hero items and just need 3 pieces to upgrade, which are the belt the earring and 1 ring. If i get a 90 accessory from coil, cool if not i can get it from Myth or even from the new extreme fights. Then I can use my Coil lots on my alt class and my CT on my alt class plus fill the rest with Dark Light or other alt gear I get. The point of lock outs is so that your character isn't Fully geared right away.


Even in FF11 you could only do dynamis twice a week, and had a chance of getting 0 drops. This way you are guaranteed drops. You get 1 drop from CT as long as you repeat till you get, you get a 2nd from Myth tome (cheapest item is 375 and you get 450 a week) and you have up to 8 chances to get gear on coil. Guaranteed you get 1 ilvl 80+ item a week. Usually 2 and can be up to 10 (if you get all coil drops). I think you have more than enough gear for your main class and your off class.
Your character has 12 slots (11 for no offhand) and you can get 10 per week, minimum you get 2 a week, not counting extreme primal/ ultimas bane. So between 2-6 weeks you have a class/job up to ilvl 80+. I think that's about right. just depends how much effort you put into it

This is by far the worst thing I have seen. It's like saying you need relic to beat titan hard mode.You know BRD ring drops in turn 5, and since you can only buy 1 hero's ring (unless he buys for other class) he will never be full i90 unless he beats turn 5. Thinking like this is why we have bad players. People who say you can't beat something unless you watch a video or unless you are over geared. Shame most players are followers and can't do anything for the 1st time unless they have a guide or are carried by better skilled or better geared players. What happened to trial and error, to finding things out for oneself, to just playing the game?
