In my experience, tanks have by far the worst attitudes in this game. I rarely see a healer say anything negative, and DPS may give each other advice on rotations. But tanks just straight up complain about everyone else doing their job, and remind you of how great they (think they) are at theirs.

It may just be the player. I personally complain about everything I see going wrong in a dungeon, only if it's THAT wrong. I won't complain in party chat, since I don't like to be rude, but you see things man...as a BRD I see DPS not using DoTs or staying in AoEs, as a WHM I see DPS not buffing themselves with their self buffs or moves that do it (like Heavy Thrust), as a GLA I see people doing stupid positioning and often attacking before I Flash or even get the first hit in. Actually, if you start doing ONLY Duty Finder or Duty Roulette to level a class, you start seeing horrible horrible things that make you facepalm and rage, usually to the point where you give out 0 commendations because nobody has really earned it.

One of the reasons I took up WAR was to have "one less asshat tank out there." I've had plenty of experiences with DDs who sucked, with healers who sucked, and everything else all in the mix. But when it comes to people just being arrogant, rotten, cruel, unforgiving, snarky, trash talking, cocky shitlords it always seems to be a tank. I don't hate you if you're a bad player or undergeared. I'll lament your awful performance in LSchat, but dangit I'll tank for you just the same. I DO hate you if you're a jerk.

My guess is that tanks attract the kind of people who want to be an essential role, so the party HAS to take them, but they're too proud to stand in the back and heal.

The best solution is to level a tank yourself as one of your alts, IMO.

Oh trust me, healers can be just as horrible.
I was doing the Duty Roulette at The Paetorium as a WHM, pretty fresh to the end game. The other healer was also a WHM, completely decked out in Darklight gear and his +1 Relic. We go through to the first two bosses. He literally does nothing but run around, leaving me to heal, which isn't that bad, the fights weren't that hard. Then we finally get to Ultima weapon. He charges in and just runs into every attack HE WAS THE FIRST OF THE PARTY TO DIE. When we wiped, he tells me that I suck as a healer because I should have been able to solo-heal and that he shouldn't have to do anything. After that, he was more active in the healing but he had such a sh*tty attitude during the rest of the battles, jumping into attacks, waiting til the last second to heal tanks and ONLY the tanks, and joking saying that he's going to let us wipe.

It's honestly not just tanks. It's most of this community. Not really sure why, but this is the absolute worst community I've experienced in MMOs.

You've never played WoW then.

What I hate most is people gaming the ilvl requirements. Had a blm in titan ex that had a mix of tanking/healing accessories.

Playing a tank role brings out the control freak in people. After tanking in various MMOs for 10 years I'm more than happy to resign myself to sticking with DPS roles. I just don't need the stress anymore.

Agree and other then the horrid dps wait times i much prefer it to tanking.
I have had some healer however call me out because i wiped when they were not healing tank, he died, agro went all to me
Some healers like to get the agro before the tank gets the chance, that is always fun
Or then also there are some tank and healer that just continue to move forward and let dps take care of the enemies. Like really are people in that much of a hurry? Pre lvl 50 no need for speedruns

I think there's much frustration in CT because it is a really easy instance. People just don't communicate properly at all, and those tanks that rush in PRESUME that since they've done it once, so has the rest of the world.

I try to take authoritative control to help people know where to go, what to do, but fact is there are 23 other people there with no reason to do what you ask them to.

I guess what I'm trying to say, WTB 24-man raid groups, so we can all queue into CT and work together

Dunno man, when i first entered a dungeon @ 50 on my Pally, I got bitched at to no end by some +1 BLMs for losing aggro (terrible gear, was learning rotation)

Funny thing was, he did absolutely nothing to alleviate the run and proceeded to pull mobs/immediately start nuking if i luckily got one. The annoying thing about caster dps is they can sprint and get no harm out of it, while I have to slowly run or run the risk of going into a pull with little to no TP.

I feel when tanking you are the boss not to be a dick about it but nothing worse than healers not doing there job or dps ninja pulling .. Your the first person they cry to when they wipe.. Ive never tanked before in a mmo ffxiv is the first and I've done so quite well but I feel the angry controlling tank is a product of the down right hero noob dps/healers that cause trouble.. I'm quite happy to tank low lvl instances to help ppl.. There's a point that ill just walk away from the group if there's to much bs and play dps class while I cool down
