Let me just say.....wow. I mean....wow. Stories are one thing, but experience is something else entirely. Ho-lee shit. There are some monumental dicks out there, and they allllll seem to have picked a tank class to play.

For some reason (coincidence, I hope) I've seen a *lot* of bad tanks since the patch, as if 2.0 were lulling me into a sense of security meant to be shattered by the awakening of an inexorable horde in 2.1.

Of course, I know it's not only the tank classes. They just happen to have been the visible ones lately.

I agree that all roles have their a-holes, but the tanks just seem to stand out as the obvious ones. I don't know what it is but they really think they rule the roost!

Was running Tam-Tara as a LNC for the first time. Got yelled at when the tank lost a mob that started to attack the healer, so I went after it when I saw that he wasn't. What I got was "you don't need to tank, you're DPS, all you're doing is wasting the healer's MP." I responded politely by aggro-ing the next few groups of mobs with my ranged attack before he had a chance to mark them. Never heard anything else the rest of the dungeon.

They're everywhere, it's just tanks and healers are also arrogant enough because they haven't been broken by 40+ mins duty finders and they actually got egoboosted off it.
Plus they can feel the "power" of life and death over their party. Too bad they often choose death without even realizing it.

I had a hilarious Tank the other day, well I say had, he zoned into WP, took one look at the party, moaned there wasn't enough DPS and left. The party was 2 BLM's, I'm full DL with relic +1 and the other guy was in full AF with GC weapon. Funny thing is we got a replacement and completed the run in less than 25 minutes anyway while he waited 30 minutes locked out of DF. Too smart for his own good that guy.

There are bad players in all classes in FFXIV. It's no different from anywhere else, really, and you just have to learn to ignore them.

The issue for me is waiting 30-60min for a queue as dps, and then joining a group where on the very first death (often due to the tank or healer being poor players) either the tank or healer up and leaves the group, knowing they can re-queue and get a new group within 5 min.
Meanwhile, the dps in the group have just wasted upwards of an hour of their life waiting for a group that is now doomed.

That stuff is what really irritates me.

In my experience, tanks have by far the worst attitudes in this game. I rarely see a healer say anything negative, and DPS may give each other advice on rotations. But tanks just straight up complain about everyone else doing their job, and remind you of how great they (think they) are at theirs.

I was running CT yesterday, and a tank joined halfway through the dungeon, and must have mentioned how his loot "better drop" in alliance chat about 10 times. NOBODY else said anything like this, of course.

I want to be surprised that it took me a week to start hearing complaints about this. I can't be, though. Or rather, I feel like I should've heard complaints even sooner.

Don't quit. Any tank / healer with half a brain will queue with 'join party in progress' ticked. I'm always happy to end up in a partially complete dungeon, means I get my tomes that much quicker. Win-win situation!
