I did an 8 man hunt yesterday. I only did it with 4 people but we could have done it with less. There were several waves of 3-5 mobs, but they all had pretty low hp. It might be a little harder to solo, but it is easy with 2-3 people. I have no idea why they thought you would need 8.

If you're in a heavily patrolled zone, like a Castrum or right by 50 Sea Wasps, trying to duo a 8-man map is just asking to die.

Not really, I can almost solo the 8 man Alpha maps, main issue is I can't kill it fast enough solo. Having as DD with me would make it easy.

Went yesterday as SCH with a BLM, both i75 average or so. And we died soon enough to the 8+ enemies attacking us, only one of which was from the treasure.

I was on SCH, in Cleric Stance, Chocobo was out and it's healer spec, but had it on free stance. Would bane dots over to unwanted adds, as well as miasma 2 and shadowflare. Got it down to ~20% before the timer ran out.
