Hi. My name is Alexya, and I'm a tank.

I'd like to think I'm a pretty good tank too. I know my role, I mark my targets, pickup adds, the whole lot. I even make a habit of commending DPS who show that they're thinking outside the "max dmg!" box. You know, the BRD's who silence a spell, the DRG's and MNK's who stun and debuff and what not. The SMN's and BLM's who pull off the clutch pet OT or CC, or just wow me with how well they manage to kick ass without taking aggro. That kinda thing.

I'm always courteous. Because this is a game and I deal with enough assholes IRL. Besides, it's just nice. Get what you give sorta thing.

Naturally, I have a lot friends who aren't tanks, many of them DPS. For awhile, I was the only tank in my FC, so I got a lot of work. I've heard the stories about long queue times and primadonna tanks who fly off the handle when a mob is killed .5s too late and what not. But I've never EXPERIENCED it.

And then Crystal Tower was released. And I was thrust into a whole new world with four or five other tanks I did not know.

Let me just say.....wow. I mean....wow. Stories are one thing, but experience is something else entirely. Ho-lee shit. There are some monumental dicks out there, and they allllll seem to have picked a tank class to play.

My experience tonight was to have a warrior with inferior gear and experience try to tell me how to do my job in CT, and then proceed to die on the last boss. You know....the one with the amazingly telegraphed moveset that can be avoided in your sleep? Yeah, that one. It was like this for the entire last half of the instance. We also had that one tank who doesn't give a crap about your "buffing" or "being ready" who decides to pull when half the alliance is outside the boss zone, and then berates people for taking too long.

I once was blind, but now I see. And on behalf of those asshole tanks everywhere, I apologize. Truly the crap you guys have to wade through is some of the stinkiest out there.

It happens a lot with healers too from what I've seen. I think these "less than desirable" players gravitate to those roles for 2 reasons. A) it gives them a position of power for them to stroke their epeens (having the party's life in your hands). And B) incredibly shorter queue times for DF. Just today there was a WHM harassing everyone in Alliance chat because we wiped a few times, when clearly a LOT of people stated at the beginning that they were new. Once the name-calling started though, I was glad because that gave me evidence to report them with (which is sadly all you can do really) :3

The worst thing I've seen in CT was when I tried to tell the bad tank the tactics.
When I said "friend, A team was all the dungeon on the left side, here we should do the same. Pleasem lure left Vassago", he said that I'm "crappy noob" and just aggroed the right one again =) the C ally was quite surprised. Nice that we can votekick some players. Really like that new option. I t works everytime it really needed - those who are votekicked because of stuff like that are often soloing

Its not just tanks or healers. there are plenty of baddies out there. You gotta kick them. they are not worth carrying. kick them to the curb and keep going. all they do is piss off the party and slow you down.

Agreed. Those things happen on all classes. Let's make a list of derpy things that some jobs do.

- PLD/WAR: Not waiting on buffs, failing to properly hold hate, not using any of their CD abilities. And a new one that I'm adding from Ultima, Not bothering to dodge the Garuda/Titan combo.

- BRD: Not using any songs, most mobile dps class still failing to dodge things(I mean really, you can move and shoot arrows!)

- MNK: Flank sticking non-moving monks(although this is a result from going to 2.0 -> 2.1), never uses silence/stun properly.

- Healers: The overzealous healers who causes the tanks to use all their might and power to try and pry the boss/mobs away from them

- BLM: Can't really say much about this one. Besides from sometimes not using the right spells.

I can't come up with things for the other jobs. But most of the time, there's that one person who eats every attack and aoe and that keeps dieing.

White Mage'd CT the first time last night.

We had a really... mouthy group apparently.. Lots of insults swinging one way and another. No one felt like telling the battle mechanics to first timers. When I died at Behemoth my only advice was "just stay alive how f*cking hard is it to not see the mechanics".

We had a tank quit short after and a dps then - went still in and beat it the very next try. I'm glad that patience was rewarded for the rest of us.

I hope my future runs will go smoother now that I know the mechanics and can give proper advice to new people. If they care to listen...

Really... I'm quiet agree about tank and healer primadonna, happens often... Very often, just because can find party easily and can waste time quitting, but the problem usually is for who isn't main tank /healer and grow theme only for easy party, usually come from dps and think they are pro lol

For ct.. I think weekend let all foolish login, really during week I did some ct as newbie and there was always who explain and other listening and asking info... Yesterday ct was like a convention between usa China and Russia during the cold war lool every party with a different strategy who don't talk each other, I found 2 different instances with a ragequit after 5 try at first dragon and I was agree with theme cos of no communication between parties
