Shopping for gear

So I'm in need of some advice as to which to shop for next as far as my gear goes, as a fresh 50 I ran we and ak to death until I had the full vermillion and hoplite sets (save circlet) and by then enough tomes to fill out my accessories and belt, as they were in most dire need of an upgrade due to all being sub 50.

Since then I had enough tomes to get DL gauntlets, and through roulette since 2.1 was fortunate enough to get the lord's cuirass as I got the tomes for the oil.

As it stands I am at around 420 myth so my original plan for the next step was going to be if I cap this week I can afford a myth piece, which originally going to be a valor coronet and then get philo for DL flanchard.

With ct now available though what would be best? Also now contemplating farming ct until I get the circlet of light and buy the valor Chausses, or get the pants or boots from ct and buy the coronet like I intended.

Forgot they upped the cap... So I could get more than enough for a myth item.

I'd go DL legs. That way you are Turn 1 ready, maybe even turn 2 if your healers are geared enough. Nice drops for tanks in Turn one and 2 (legs, chest, shields, earring and some other stuff).

If you're lucky, you'll have the chest soon. You then can spend your myths on other slots instead of spending it on PLD's myth body (825 tomes) and with the nice acc on DL legs + Allagan chest, you don't have to worry about acc..

Yeah, I would buy the DL legs for the +accuracy and then farm CT for either the helm or chest (whichever drops first imo) and then use myth to buy the other piece. You'll be full blue on the left side and overall in a good spot for coil if you choose to pursue raiding.

Thanks, mulling it over I had a feeling that may have been best when comparing the accuracy and sub stats. Are hero accessories worth it in the future or should I skip straight to allegan/ the ex primal ones? Notice you drop a bit of accuracy there too.

Hi Aethergoggles,

I will would recommend buying the Myth Legs and spending your Philo on the Heavy Darklight body. This will give you the most bang for your buck and have you be ready to start Coil for sure. The Myth legs are a BiS item and the Armor will put your stat in a good place for Acc and Vit. where as if you buy int BL legs and Valor Cornet you will eventually replace both pieces. There is also the opportunity that if the armor does drop you can put your Vermillion cap back on and still have better stats that the Dl body.

BiS is all Allagan and hero ring. Primal accessories lose out to their Allagan equivalents in all slots.

I would actually say that ilvl 70 crafted accessories are very competitive and worth a look versus allagan/hero's accessories.

HQ Crafted Melded Gryphonskins (or Rosegold Ear Cuffs) can be used in place of the i90.
You sacrifice around 5% of your maximum HP for an additional ~1% damage mitigation over time (to blockable attacks only) and ~15% extra DPS.

I used to recommend this for the enmity gain that comes from the DPS boost, but since the patch there's no real need for tanks to try to generate extra enmity any more.

I suppose if you're loaded with gil and don't want to farm myth tomes, this could be a viable option... especially since the prices for Tier IV materia have plummeted recently. But I'd still try to get the +Vit gear eventually since there may be occasions where the extra HP could be more useful than +Block/Parry (Turn 2, for example).

Myth hands and Helm are decent to grab first. So DL Flanchard would be a food choice. You'll want the body belt and pants from Coil since they drop T1 T2. If you get the shield from T1 as well you will save some myth only having to upgrade your sword.
