To be honest, buying the head is one of the best things u can do, seeing as the PLD head from coil drops from turn 5.Hi Aethergoggles,
I will would recommend buying the Myth Legs and spending your Philo on the Heavy Darklight body. This will give you the most bang for your buck and have you be ready to start Coil for sure. The Myth legs are a BiS item and the Armor will put your stat in a good place for Acc and Vit. where as if you buy int BL legs and Valor Cornet you will eventually replace both pieces. There is also the opportunity that if the armor does drop you can put your Vermillion cap back on and still have better stats that the Dl body.
Exactly.
I understand the point of it being replaced eventually, but that's e v e n t u a l l y. Not that realistic.
As for the DL body: I'd make myself T1 ready first, instead of trying to gear BiS right from the get go. I would not be so pleased if I just spent 1320 tomes on a DL body and see the Allagan chest drop. Then again, if raiding isn't your main purpose, go for BiS myth right away.
All a matter of taste I suppose.
Valor helm and curtana zenith are my recommendations when it comes to spending myth.
Reasoning is basically, those are turn 5 items, and unless you have access to turn 5 on a other class, you probably won't be seeing the allagan counter-parts for over a month from now.
After getting those, I would SAVE myth until you get enough for body, (unless you got lucky with turn 1 drop).
I wouldn't replace DL legs until you get lucky with allagan boots or pants. Basically full DL with curtana easily enough to tank turns 1 & 2 so see what you get before spending tomes
Body and pants are both beaten by Valor imo, irregardless of which turn they drop in. Also, belt and hands have the shittiest drop-rate for my group. Been clearing T4 weekly since mid Oct (Oct 18th to be exact) and still haven't seen either drop. Most healer gear is non-existent period (Think we've seen hands, 3x belt, 2x ring).
Valor Body's always BIS as long as you're not under the accuracy cap.
Valor Pants are BIS when the thing you're fighting can be blocked/parried and you need more mitigation (Allagan gives better raw DPS).
The Tank Darklight Legs/Feet combo is great for Coil though. Plenty of Accuracy AND Parry!
(And as an aside, I've seen far more Healer gear than Tank gear. Only gotten a Allagan Shield so far after countless weeks of coil. Darn that RNG!)
If I were going to toss out suggestions here:
Myth Head - cause it drops in turn 5, it'll likely be some time before you see it
Myth Hands - cause they drop in turn 4, it'll likely be some weeks before you down this consistently
Myth Bracelets - cause they drop in turn 4, as above, these can be covered by ultima/Ex primal now
Myth Ring - cause you need 2 rings, these can be covered by ultima/Ex primal now
Myth Body - cause it is BiS, it can wait though as allagan drops in T1
Myth Legs - cause they're BiS, they can wait though as allagan drop in T2
You don't need +1 sword/shield to tank anything, if you really want to do one of them go sword since shield drops in turn 1

Don't try and predict your purchases on drops in Coil. RNG is a bitch and I've only seen tank accs drop for me after 100000000 runs. Just luck of the draw.
DL legs are awesome so I'd get them first. Hero's ring was my first myth purchase.
I saved up for Valor chest with hoplite circlet > Valor Circlet > Valor gloves > valor legs with hoplite boots and I'll be getting valor feet next Monday (my fellow PLD has shotgunned the Allagan boots if they drop so I'm getting my valor anyway)
Hero Bracelet is BiS compared to Allagan so that's always a good purchase. I wouldn't get the hero's belt. I got the belt of light and waiting for Allagan.
Do CT runs and base your purchases around that. Get the ilevel 80 legs? Then get myth boots. Get the i80 boots? Then get myth legs.
Accuracy can be a pain but people have mentioned that at 470 they haven't missed Twintania once.
