Yes please! I loved bestiaries like the one in FFXII, gives me some goals and for whatever reason, as mindless as they are, i'm killing 10 more coreuls if it means i fill out a page on my bestiary. And the card game would be an awesome addition.

Self-less bump on this. I think it would be an awesome idea. They had this in 13 and you also got an achievement for getting everything checked or used "Libra" on every mob. Being able to collect them as cards or like a book would be pretty cool. Perhaps include kill count as well?
IMO rank next to name is lazy and unappealing, beastiary with all info is best. Actualy I just had my best idea yet! Howabout everything has ?? (NM stays ??) For level until you beat it and then in shows actual level next to name, just giving it away off bat is boring.
My absolutely favorite aspect of FFXIII was the astoundingly large menu and bestiary. I would love for a similar amount of information to be available for the player to read at will. I agree including some kind of scan would be a nice way to collect information on each mob type, even if only killing the mob type once is required (which I think is very reasonable). I could honestly see myself spending hours reading information regarding lore on the main storyline, races, nations, monsters, Notorious Monsters, etc.
Probably posted here already, but posting again. It would be great to have a personal bestiary if only so you could have a reference on what monsters are weak/strong against what types of attacks/elements or what absorbs certain attacks. The image of the enemy doesnt have to be too elaborate, maybe a small icon, or general Akihiko yoshida art for the enemy, recolored for the different variations?

I absolutely agree!!!! If something like this were implemented into FFXIV, it would be by far my favorite aspect of the game. This would greatly help FFXIV seem more alive and real. Except I don't want to see a similar amount of info compared to FFXIII, I want to see vastly more info! I'm typing this out on my phone but I will write more on this later!
Bringing to the front due to edited content with materia system. "Likes have been wiped it appears to please vote it up again"
Spoke to Yoshida himself about this idea and he said that he would like to implement a bestiary if they can make the appropriate parameter adjustments during the battle fixes.

Think pokedex!
It'll be a great way to have more achievements in the game too. Don't over look this feature.
