I suppose the long-term goal is to minimize the amount of complainers as much as they can, without ruining the game, its player base, and its atmosphere.Yes I think he will deliver, but that's just me. I personally believe that 99.9% of this community will never ever be happy with anything the dev team does. They'll ALWAYS find something to bitch and moan about.
As for being some kind of saving grace, second coming kind of patch? No. Why do people expect so much out of a single damn patch?
probably because the last patches have been so content poor, that people are expecting some magic patch that shows everyone what they ve been doing for the last 9 months.Yes I think he will deliver, but that's just me. Why do people keep saying 9 months the new team has been working on their own stuff for 4 months not nine <.<. You cant say they have been working on this stuff for nine months when Yoshi dropped most of the stuff Tanka was doing.
because the new team isnt really important, they were still building off the old product, there should be a lot of locations, gear skills etc that they can take peices of, you hire someone new to be more effecient. All their progress should be the total of the progress to date. FFXI changed teams and employees a couple times, but they still made the product fairly consistently. Same can be said for multiple games. Long life games change teams a number of times and they are still expected to show progress and synegize with whatever came before them.
I hope the team delivers with 1.18, for these forums, our community and this game, in general, need a healthy injection of content.
Something new is needed to wash away all the "bad blood" that has been circulating about the forums and game for the past few months. With nothing but speculation and broken promises, the community's responses and attitudes made sense, however.
Maybe, if we gamers are given enough of a "game" to enjoy, the debacle that is FFXIV will begin to right itself.
No.

Because their beliefs and desires are more important than reality.
Players Poll # 2, which was an input to the battle system changes, started on February 18.
3.5 months ago. The new battle system is due 4 months after design inputs were solicited.
1.18 will not change much. It will only have part of the battle system changes, it will probably be just the addition of auto-attack. We will see the quest hubs, which will probably give us a few quests similar to the sidequests we already have.To the players that have stuck around since the beginning, to the players who are ready to see something other then "what should have been--alpha/beta content", to everyone that gave it a chance but have grown tired, to the players that think 1.18 should be drastically improving the game, expecting it to take a 180.
Do you think it'll be worth the wait? Assume that we don't get 1.18 in mid-June, say we get it at the beginning of July. Exactly how much patience does everyone have? Do you really expect much from SE? Will you expect "additional" changes if it's delayed? Do you think we'll get everything that was promised in 1.18 (and more?)? How big of a game changer are these changes actually going to be for the game and its players?
Are these quest hubs really going to be something more then the super-lax'd sidequests we already have? What about those instances? Is SE going to get it right with the battle changes, will balancing finally move in the right direction?
Or do you think SE is just all talk or is SE going to instill us all with hope after they blow us away with what is possible after 1.18?
Maybe you quit after 1.18, maybe you've already quit and you just troll these forums, but putting that aside, do you think 1.18 is going to be this "saving grace" that everyone wants it to be?
These above are nothing to be excited about as they won't make a big impact on gameplay nor will it bring back players who left.
The biggest part of patch 1.18 would be the dungeons IMO. It will probably keep us busy for a little bit and hopefully provide us with some nice gear as a reward but after running them a couple of times and getting all the reward they have to offer, we will be bored once again and then hopefully SE will have something more for us.
Now if SE messed up the content in 1.18(exp. Dungeons too short, boring or/and don't give interesting rewards) then 1.18 will hurt more then it will save the game as players will lose faith in SE, so they better deliver in June!
