I guess your in the USA? I have e-friends over there and i've discussed this with them before, I got the impression there's little choice over there in the US so the bigger companies can pretty much get away with charging people for sub standard internet services.Well, in my case, I live in a very small town with a small population. We only have five total ISPs in the area, the other 4 provide internet through Dish network. The one we currently have provides Dish as well, but we're using DSL because it bundles our phone bill and internet bill into one package. So they can dictate the speed of their internet as they see fit, and by god is it awful.
Take into account that this also restarts your download. I've also restarted the process several times and it's been a no-go on speeding up. Plus, I just ran my connection speed on Ookla, and i'm getting a very speedy 0.53 Mbps (most likely contributed to the fact that i'm downloading it at the time I ran it)Some of you with the slow downloads may want to restart the process to see if it speeds up for you. I started the laptop and it was only getting around .6MB/s (about 4Mbits/sec)... realized I wanted to tool around the web on it for a while, so I stopped that and kicked it off on the PC---BAM! 1.8MB/sec right off the bat (around 15Mbits/sec). It eventually capped out right at 16Mb/sec (1.91MBytes/sec on their progress bar) and held there until it finished. Took about 40 minutes I think.
You're exactly right on that. There are choices, but bigger companies charge you for shittier service. I was lucky to have cable before I moved and had about the same speeds you did, and it was considered heaven for me.
lol, why does your upload speed destroy mine? :/

If we're sticking to the maximum time it takes to do this update, the update should finish about 2:30-3:00am EST (time conversions aren't really my thing, this is just when the servers booted me when I was playing earlier this morning). It could finish before and be available right at 12am, but it's anyone's guess at the moment.
EDIT: I just did an edit on my first post that gives people a rough estimate of when the servers should be up. I'm also keeping an eye on Lodestone updates and refresh it every 5 minutes. We're going into a decisive time now folks! Could be up any minute now.

I read your estimated time and I don't really understand why it would take SOOOOO much longer? Since the patch is already completed wtf are they doing. I'm sure it's testing etc. just let the players do that. If something goes horribly wrong they can always take it down and be like "oops my bad"
They're also updating their servers, which takes a good deal of time.I read your estimated time and I don't really understand why it would take SOOOOO much longer? I think the last "oops my bad" was Version 1.0 and I'm pretty sure the developers want anything remotely close to that again. Give the developers props in that they have completely turned around the perception of the game throughout the gaming world. I can't blame them for wanting it to be right the first time they release the patch.I read your estimated time and I don't really understand why it would take SOOOOO much longer? A very good question to ask, lemme see if I can clarify some things for you!I read your estimated time and I don't really understand why it would take SOOOOO much longer? Releasing a patch was the major part of this update, do not get me wrong. But they're also updating their own personal servers and changing just how the load of players is distributed amongst them. This can take several hours to update their own software and/or hardware if they decide to do so. My guess would be that the game itself is already done, but the systems behind which the game runs and operates are not in full functioning order like SE wants them to be.
