In reality, BLM in Coil is a damage bot, this is fine. Just please stop pretending we haz utility that we can actually help with outside your fun super hard WP SR.

or even better, let's go a little further here and use another example of something useless that SE has still not changed:

You use one, now it's on cooldown and you look up to find yourself, STILL paralysed.

Says it's meant to remove the effect of paralysis on the bottle! huh?! so what the?

So when are you going to use those potions? Running around fates? that's the place where you most likely WON'T waste them so you can save them for the time you actually need them.

As a raid leader i have to disagree. Virus CD is pretty damn high, so its best to have it down in a rotation. The changes in 2.1 will make it less necessary for a 3rd virus user, however, fights with multi targets (every single fight except for turn 2) will still mean a BLM's virus can still be of use. same goes for rotating eye for an eye when needed.

I'm my own raid leader, I'm the one who calls for every single Virus rotation on Twintania in my group to near absolute perfection to every single death sentence. I understand the importance of it, now after 2.1, I only have to call it for my dear SCH and SMN (once I find a new one anyway). BLM Virus is here for backup only now, and the rare situation for multi targets. As for Eye for an Eye, it is the same deal, between SMN & SCH, they have the tank covered, BLM once more is back up.

Please do understand that I'm not complaining at all or think eye for an eye and virus are weak. Matter of fact they are both important. I'm only here fighting the misguided repeated "BLM haz so many utilities" when in reality none of them matter much and at best situational.

People who say that might assume you have BLM in your party and said "SMN utilities do not matter much cuz BLM covers all that".

It is the different of viewpoints and I propose this statement instead: "Only one BLM or SMN in a party will do just fine and they can replace each other in terms of utilities they provide". Except for Sleep vs Resurrection tho.

I'd say black mages has less utility than a bard (i mean, who doesnt?) but overall BLM and Summoners have more utility than the melee. Monks get mantra which is good, but dragoons get a diminshing returns slow, which literally all other DPS classes can get.

Ultimately, BLM utility is situational, i admit, but its still on the better end of the spectrum, and not that unnoticeable as it can really save a tank from taking too much spike damage.

Also, you cant really compare BLM overall utility to your particular raid group where you are stacked with virus users too. It's not fair for the class as a whole.

Eye for an Eye and Virus can't have 100% uptime even with SMN and SCH in group. Things have changed with the 2.1 change to virus. But don't kid yourself and think there's no utility.
