Its fine, just more "ahhh sky is falling" before anyone's even tried it out. PvP is very different from PvE, and people are too quick to jump conclusions.
You gotta factor in that their will be plenty of Meat Shields to deal with those who would oppose the great Black Mage. SE has done pretty well so far with making a quality game. I doubt they would skimp when it came to PvP.

The real problem is yet again, another MMO developer has lazily based their PvP upon denial. No matter how fairly they implement the system, it will never feel anything but cheap and boring (if you're always winning) or cheap and demoralizing (if you're always losing).
Someone needs to make PvP with no crowd control abilities whatsoever. Build the PvP around counters and active defenses rather than simply stunlocking people into oblivion. Losing control of your character and then dying with no chance of counter is not fun... it's miserable.
Surecast, Swiftcast, Sleep, Bind and Slow effects on numerous spells, Manaward, Manawall, Aetherial Manip...
I don't think BLM is going to have much to worry about in PvP outside of Bard.

When I read those complaint I'm not sure if they know they're not alone in the arena... If they focus you, your healer is free and the other DDs are free. If they focus someone else... you're free. That's how pvp goes.
And stop crying 'bout BLM. You have a ton load of ways to cast.
Theres something called monk, the other is dragoon.
Another thing people need to consider:
i90 PvP gear and the i90 primal weapons, unlike relic, can be used by non-job'd classes, and you can enter PvP as THM, giving you more defensive abilities to chose from depending on your leveled classes. Melee DPS will need to be in your face to cancel your casting, and if my understanding of ARC/BRD in PvP is correct, their damage diminishes as they get farther from their target, so a stone skin could easily eat their ranged damage and allow casting.
In fact, even without un-job'd sub skills, your healer should probably be keeping stoneskins up anyways, and if you go in with a SCH there is adloquim to consider.
umm what i've seen in pvp so far everything is fine, except whm and blm. blms actually don't get much of anything off and whms...LOL just no.
This forum post is so dumb, blackmages have lots of abilities and utilities to work with but yeah maybe you should just stick to PVE, the whole concept seems to confound you.
