You do know the vanya hat melded has more crit than those stats, right? In fact, even if they didn't cancel it, vanya hat would still be better. Mine is fully melded with three Materia IV's and two Materia III's.

MND+12 Vit+12 PIE+11 Crit+16 DET+11 SPS+15

The only thing valuable you lose out on is vitality, but astral ring/bracelet make up for it anyway.

From what I've heard, patch 2.2 will have a vanity system. A.K.A you can wear this allagan hat as your stats and use board as your vanity piece. You'll just need to farm both pieces. z_z Though I like how the same folks who complained about scholars looking like Harry Potter, now wish to keep the look. <333

That's the whole point of critical hit builds. Losing 6 mind is not a big deal at all especially when you have 11 determination points making up for it.

All expert SCHs I know use it and it was named BiS by many sources. If you're talking non-crit build, thats another story.

11 points of DET is maybe equal to 2 points mind. It's optimal to have high crit in the i90 gear but losing 6 points mind can't be made up for in secondary stats.

Nope, because the Argute Mortarboard gives 15 determination. So you're trading 6 mind, 6 vitality and 4 determination for 16 crit, which is about 1% crit, and 15 spell speed, which is about 0.01 second off the GCD.
