I don't actually think they were over-buffed as some are saying. My initial reaction was that the Greased Lightning buff was a bit much. But then you have to compare it to DRG's buffs too. Both being melee DPS, it makes sense that they should have higher single-target damage than the ranged classes - who in 2.0 could pull off similar numbers from the general safety of not being close. None of the ranged DPS jobs really got any buffs this patch, so there is now at least some distinction there.

Both MNK and DRG got potency increases. MNK got 3 straight up increases, DRG got 2 (iirc, not looking at notes right now), plus 30 seconds lower CD on Power Surge - which means more frequent higher-potency jumps.
MNK got +6% damage buff from 2.0 (21% on GL3 up to 27%), DRG got +5% damage buff (15% on Heavy Thrust up from 10%).
Also add to this that BfB and IR are significantly toned down as XClass. DRGs are more distinctly bursty with BfB.

It kind of balances out. Especially when you consider that if you mess up as a MNK and lose GL you lose a 27% damage buff with it. Monks are the kings of sustained single-target DPS for sure, but DRGs are more consistent and reliable in fights where a long disengage is unavoidable. Neither is OP.

It doesn't really work that way, unfortunately; because the cooldowns of the jumps themselves were unmodified (still 40s, 90s, and 180s), the CD reduction to Power Surge amounts to essentially nothing. Monks definitely got the sweeter deal this patch, so I can only hope that they give Dragoons a little more love in the future. With Monks already pulling 300+ DPS without full ilvl90 gear, I'm honestly surprised that they buffed you guys as much as they did. That being said, if they are planning to have more encounters in which GL will fall off due to extended disengagements, the buffs to both classes may balance out a little more.

My only complaint is greased lightning wasn't given something to help keep it up during those 'lol' gaps in combat where you can't put it up quick enough. Should tackle CD helps on some but definently not all situations. Still... yeah wow on the change. Making me flail around a lot more for dps which can be quite a pain on some fights weaving in and out of flank and backside, but... yeah I'm very surprised they boosted Monk dps quite a bit. O.O Rather Greased lightning just being buffed for easier up time, but hell I'll take the extra DPS.
