It doesn't really work that way, unfortunately; because the cooldowns of the jumps themselves were unmodified (still 40s, 90s, and 180s), the CD reduction to Power Surge amounts to essentially nothing. Monks definitely got the sweeter deal this patch, so I can only hope that they give Dragoons a little more love in the future. With Monks already pulling 300+ DPS without full ilvl90 gear, I'm honestly surprised that they buffed you guys as much as they did. That being said, if they are planning to have more encounters in which GL will fall off due to extended disengagements, the buffs to both classes may balance out a little more.

It actually does make a difference. I had to save for every third jump to use power surge because of the 90 second recast.

With EMX's super simple rotation @ 2.4 GCD:
    HP IDC TTT
    HP IDF TTT

Jump is available for use after every CT. Allows jump to go off nearly immediately once its CD is done. CD reduction means every other Jump is getting modified, with no need to wait an extra 10 seconds.

To definitely answer your question, yes the tooltips are holdovers from 1.0 (been playing since 1.0 beta). Monk's Fists of Fire/Wind/Earth did actually change their attacks to elemental ones and drain MP to maintain (be glad they don't do this anymore, trust me XD).

On the subject, I can't wait until the servers are back up to play around with the new Monk. Gonna be so awesome.

In an ideal world, yes, but in many encounters, I've found that the amount of mechanic evasion required often upsets our rotations enough that the ~10s discrepency between 1x Power Surge and 2x Jump CDs is not an issue, especially given the fact that you should be activating Power Surge at least 1-2 GCDs prior to using Jump (putting it on CD that much earlier than Jump). While I don't deny that the CD reduction will help in some encounters, I would not say that it could be considered a blanket DPS increase for us.

Yall got me way too hype to play Monk again and mess with my rotation. Thank you to those two who answered my question... Monk will be very interesting to play now, especially with the addition (for PS players) to activate a hotbar by pressing both L2+R2. I was worried i wouldnt have enough space for skills. And yes, we Monks are quite spoiled... id say something about the Dragoon situation, but seeing as how I dont have the class, ill just be quiet.

"Hotbars that are called by simultaneously holding LT + RT, or L2 + R2, can now be registered.
These hotbars can be set by selecting the Expanded Hold Controls option on the Cross tab of the Hotbar Settings menu found within Character Configuration.

The following changes have been made to gamepad/controller controls:
You can now scroll through the enmity list using LB/L1 + up/down on the direction buttons.
You can now scroll through the alliance list using LB/L1 + right/left on the direction buttons."

Straight from patch notes. That being said. im not too sure.. but just macro some of your buttons to L2 and R2, do it that way?

I personally do not understand why MNKs got this much of a buff. They already did the most damage from my understanding and it negates the effects of the DRG buff as I honestly doubt people will start bringing 2 melees to a fight.

Summoner was the best single target DPS currently, though with their subsequent nerfs and our buffs we may be #1, also Dragoon may rise up as well, black mages lost double flare and swiftcast this could upset some of their DPS. There are many factors to consider, it would be easier to observe them after the patch hits :-)

Hey guys, just a question, do you guys clip your DoTs?
With the new updates to DoTs, seems like you can overwrite even a buffed DoT. Or do you guys let it fall off before re-applying?
