I present to you our White-Knight ladies and Gents.Oh god stuff like this makes my brain hurt and it is the reason why devs these days believe they need to make sure everyone can obtain everything easily. Nothing is stopping you from attaining what you want if it is inherently a difficult challenge in one way or another. A large financial barrier means as Yoshi P. says, work together and take the time to earn what you seek. Everyone doesn't need to be on equal footing. This is not FFXIV - Communism.
What you want and how you want it is not necessarily what is best overall.
No white knight here. I think they've made a plethora of mistakes with ARR. It's too damn easy and is a damn rollercoaster MMO with little content outside of gear grinding. My particular stance on this issue doesn't make me a white knight; it's just one case where I can see how it makes sense.
MMO devs need to stop pandering to whiny babies who want their "phat lootz" right now.
Not a White-Knight but defends a horrible way to go about implenting housing. So let's say when the game started, coil was available but you had to kill Odin and Behemoth 1 million times before you could enter it. Judging from your logic you would be okay with this.No white knight here. I think they've made a plethora of mistakes with ARR. I am not okay with the housing in any kind of way it is now. I rather have FF11 way of housing atm.

I would hate to lead my FC down a path of spending endless hours of their free time grinding gil and then find out 9 months from now that all the small and medium size plots of land are sold out.
SE posted official translation of Yoshi's comments. I guess I hit my post limit today so I cant reply, but here's my reply. You say, hey, we know prices are high so just wait. Well, ok, Ill wait. But I'm done waiting for content while I'm paying for it. I'll cancel my sub until you fix this nonsense, see how that works out for everyone.

OMG...what a completely blinkered reply, no one said anything about easy except you, I played FF franchise for many years (since the first Final Fantasy) through FFXI, FFXIV 1.0, Alpha and Beta, I've had my gil taken, made to stay on a Legacy world where suddenly I find I am completely shut out of a feature I would like to have been a part of. I have paid my dues, many times and do not appreciate an Archer with a princess attitude telling me I am now nor ever have taken the easy way. What is best overall is not alienating a very loyal and veteran fan base.
Housing Instances are finite first come first served it shouldn't be this way.
I don't care about FC housing, but I worry the pricing and limited availability could forecast a stormy future for personal housing, too, and that is something I do care about. But since it seems to be months away anyway I guess I'll wait and see. Or check back later if I get bored meanwhile. I feel sorry for the small friend and family groups who play together, though. Seems their choices are grind for months to have a shack, join up with a massive group of strangers to have a house worth the trouble, or miss out.
Their system is like a caveman version of what LOTRO does. In Lotro an instance fills up and a new one auto-spawns. In this game, an instance gets close to filling up and devs talk about it in comitee as to wether or not they should manually add another instance. Yes..no automated system, manually.
