Yes, but why? why should there be anything in the game that is not attainable by everyone? Apart from the fact they have priced the FC housing out of reach of all but the larger FC's In the unlikely event we all scrape up the gil we may be just s**t out of luck due to availability. I don't see how things will get any better 3 months down the line so this is one aspect of FFXIV I am not going to participate in...I'm gonna save all my gil until I have enough to buy a mouldy patch of swampland where I can build my personal house.

It begs the question, if they cannot implement enough server capacity for FC housing (which even cost aside was likely to be a less popular feature because some people just dont like to share things), how can we reasonably assume it will be any better for individual housing?

The fact that housing has MANUALLY added INSTANCED housing should be an indication.

I played Asheron's call in 2000 which had an abundance of open world housing.

Oh god stuff like this makes my brain hurt and it is the reason why devs these days believe they need to make sure everyone can obtain everything easily. Nothing is stopping you from attaining what you want if it is inherently a difficult challenge in one way or another. A large financial barrier means as Yoshi P. says, work together and take the time to earn what you seek. Everyone doesn't need to be on equal footing. This is not FFXIV - Communism.

What you want and how you want it is not necessarily what is best overall.

It's stupid for a developer to spend money creating content that will not be utilized. That's simply wasted money. They would have been better off just not adding it and instead spending the money on upgrading their servers and adding more mid-game and end-game content.

No white knight here. I think they've made a plethora of mistakes with ARR. It's too damn easy and is a damn rollercoaster MMO with little content outside of gear grinding. My particular stance on this issue doesn't make me a white knight; it's just one case where I can see how it makes sense.

MMO devs need to stop pandering to whiny babies who want their "phat lootz" right now.
