You are right, there needs to be more gear based long term goals IMHO. Getting a relic is a joke in FFXIV. Housing is just a gil dump. It better be worth the investment beyond just having something that looks cool. Because there will be players investing millions of gil into their FC's house and only owners and people with permissions can even do anything to it. If I am going to dump millions of gil into something, it better be of good use to me as a player. Like getting certain types of buffs from having certain rare items in your house.

You either don't understand what a white knight is, or completely missed the point of this thread. Congrats

Agreed, they are looking at our savings in essence not our checking accounts which would be more correct on how we spend gil.

If you think that developers are making MMO's less casual friendly then you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. They want the most people playing their games, feeding them more profit and satisfying the investors. MMO's have only been getting more stream lined as time go by. It saddens me, because I like having lots of long term goals to work towards because thats what keeps me interested long term. Casual's these days just want instant gratification, and by servicing to that, developers only shorten the life spans of their games.

Why all the hate towards large FCs? Claiming they can not be close, or that they form cliques? My FC is a community. We might not all be BEST OF FRIENDS, but we are all family and help one another. We may be an exception, idk. But We are aiming to reach the best housing possible, and it is very attainable if we all work together (which thus far we have been!)

    Why so quick to judge?

You realize that as the current prices stand this isn't "foreseeable" as long term goals for casuals? It's downright impossible to achieve. No one wants to work on something for several years. That is NOT casual. I'm lucky if I can play for 8 hours a week. You're telling me that with my playtime it is perfectly possible for my friends and I (Who play as little as I do) to achieve a house?

And after the translation of the live letter, we are witnessing people complaining that something that takes 3 months to earn is such a pain. Glad Yoshida is doing this. The spoon feeding mentality needs to be toned down!!

I'm of the mindset that the long-term goals should come into play during the actual content. Squeenix has decided that grinding gil is more important than experiencing their content; that's completely backwards.

Put all the "long-term goals" they want in the housing itself, but actually getting access to housing should NOT be one of them.

Umm... FFXI vet here as well.. and you know what.. screw you and the high horse you think you rode in on!
FFXI was one of the worse MMO's I've ever played. Yes, it was also my first, but I stand by what I said. Being forced to group grind after level 9?! Everything, even the simplest crafted item costing so much that it would take almost a year to grind out the gil for it?
Seriously, what are you on, because if its good enough to make you that cracked, I clearly need it!
