FFXI is considered a big baddie?
FFXI is one of the longest running subscription based MMO's in existence and is currently the most profitable Final Fantasy to date. Heck, it came out in 2002 and it just released another expansion this year - eleven years later. I'd say its a big baddie. 95% of other subscription MMO's have gone Free to Play within months. Why do you think they decided to make another FF MMO? (^_^ ;; )

I dont think FFXI is one of the longest running MMOs ever. It's been going for a while, but some other games (the realm online which launched in 1996) have been going much longer. Regarding profitability, FFXI is the most profitable Final Fantasy game to date, per former CEO Yoichi Wada:
"...Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada heralded Final Fantasy XI as the most profitable of all past Final Fantasy games..."

I said "FFXI is one of the longest running subscription based MMO's in existence" How many MMO's out there have held onto the monthly fee subscription plan for more than 11 years? FFXI is by far one of the longest.

The Realm Online was originally released in 1996. It is currently still running with a $6.99 monthly subscription fee, albeit with a small population. FFXI has been running for a while, but not the longest. Probably not top 5. EQ was released in 1999 and is still running with subscriptions (although it does have a F2P option, although it's severely restricted.).
Yeah, it's been running for a while, but a number of subscription games have been running longer. That's all.

Whenever FFXI is mentioned the XIV community has a way of just..brushing it off like it was never a successful or long running MMO and that XIV ARR is the best MMO to ever exist lol. It's really hard to deny that. MMOs 12 years ago was fairly niche since whenever you mention you played an MMO people would look at you funny and wonder why you're not playing x console game or CS.
Nowadays MMO are as common as mario games.
