Nah, and you're grasping at straws. Be upset if you want, but the house isn't for you. It's for your FC. It's not something personal of yours. Instead of coming to childish conclusions, you can wait for the prices to be reduced in-game (Remember, the pricing goes down over time) or you can wait for the prices to be patched.

Sell what to whom ? Only a few guilds will be able to afford housing (or will bother at all in the first place) and it's pretty safe assumption they will have enough crafters among the members to cover crafting of the house fluff.

Well, the question about the required quantity remains of course. Farming-loving SE might have put ingenious ideas in place - like requiring 2000 pcs. of some profession to change one side of a small wall or something with each piece requiring 125 tomestones of some kind to craft. Then yea, crafting might "flourish" after a bit

I can't help but notice that prices on your server are 40% of those on mine (which will still be true 3 months from now, btw). Of course YOU can sneer, you got the better end of this capricious decision.

How is it "capricious"? Do you really think these prices are arbitrarily set just to aggravate you?

It would've been more capricious to set the prices identically across all servers and ignore the differences in economies. Housing shouldn't be trivial to get on one server and insurmountable on another.

Just as a quick thought, the housing market ingame with different prices per server works exactly the same as the realty market in real life.
A house in Los Angeles, or Tokyo, or New York, or any of the big metropolitan cities will cost an arm and a leg more than a less-populated city because it's bigger. There are more people working. There's more money in that city than somewhere else. The same goes for here. There is more money being circulated in the legacy servers than the non, so prices reflect that. Just because you can't buy a house on DAY ONE doesn't mean you can't buy a house ever.

Sure, the prices are steep, there is valid reason to complain, but I think most people are complaining for the wrong reasons. Don't complain because you can't afford it, complain that just because the server has X amount of gil, that gil is spread out so thin that a lot of FCs won't be able to even get a house after the prices are reduced.

They had a good idea, but executed it poorly.

You'll see more anger about the one negative thing than happy posts about all the positive content. That's just how forums happen to work. As long as you're excited for X or Y, don't bother caring if everyone else is.

You're assuming that there's only one money-sink ever in the game to "fix" this game's economy. Both that assumption and server-variable housing prices are contrary to every mmo... EVER. What other games do is offer the fixed range of housing costs on all servers. On "rich" servers many more of the fanciest properties are sold, but folks of average means can still afford housing.

Look at free-to-play games and the kinds of things you see in the cash shop. Rare cosmetics (including mounts), and convenience items lead the way. The key to draining excess money from the economy is a variety of such sinks.

My point exactly. My FC could afford a house on a cheap server, but not on Excalibur.

I did say it would be a while before housing kicked in and could become profitable. I hadnt thought of them making some of the mats need tomestones, that could possibly lift those item prices again.
