People claiming that housing is a new hardcore masterpiece are really aiming low if they think a massive gil grind for horizontal content is satisfying. I can understand dungeons, gear and rare hard to obtain vanity trinkets, but content that has no progressive meaning? That's pretty laughable. It actually seems a bit desperate, people want -something- challenging so bad they'll cling to anything they can get even if it isn't really challenging, it's simply tedious.

I'd rather see challenges in the shape of having to learn content, having to figure out strategy and then actually do it without fail, etc. That's game challenge. Spending two years saving up gil is not challenge. I do agree housing is not something that should be dealt out for a gil on every corner, but there's something called the golden mean.

Crafting makes garbage gains now. If you leveled DoH/DoL early + took part in Titan HM sales (before everyone and their grandmother started doing it too and driving prices down), you'd easily have 10m+ now on non legacy. Our small LS of 9 people holds a combined total of ~120m, but you can be damn sure they aren't going to spend their money until the prices go down.

Just because you can afford it doesn't mean you should buy it. Unless housing offers some kind of advantage, I highly doubt even rich players will buy land plots when there's a time table on when the prices will drop.

Anyway.. this was the wrong feature to decide to go hardcore on. Housing, in any game I have ever played, is usually cheap enough to be available to all players. It's a casual feature that typically the casual or roleplaying crowd seems to enjoy more and actually partake in more than the hardcore grind players. So making that feature the only one in the game that requires any sort of grind really isn't the smartest move and I can understand why people are upset.

In addition to that, farming gil is not challenging, it's time consuming (unless of course, you're good at playing the market). I am all for challenging content, but I have a distaste for major timesinks.. those are not challenging, and they rarely ever result in a feeling of achievement for me. It's always more of a "well at least that's over with now".

For once, we are actually getting a real challenge in the game that is not obtainable by 99 percent of the playerbase. I am glad SE makes you feel this is impossible because so far it has all been a cakewalk. Honestly, they got it the wrong way around. Relics should have costed 8 mil, not houses. You know, relics costed 100+ mil in FFXI, and Mythic weapons were over 300++ mil. Houses are clearly going to be a luxury item, not a casual reward you get from grinding dungeons or defeating 3 easy bosses. Hope you guys understand and stop crying about RMT and having things become hard. Boo hoo.... Get with the program and learn about past MMOs that were actually challenging for once. This is a huge plus for the FFXI veterans.

Congratulations you are on a server with acceptable prices. 30M for a medium housing compared to 93M or 125M for the same things.It's turn easy to witheknight with that prices.

amen. it only takes me 45 hours of work to pay my monthly mortgage. the crappiest house would probably take thousands of hours to purchase.
