It'd be nice if they at least made it once per 18 hours per gathering class. :-(

You can also do the treasure maps with groups (in fact, the patch notes even say that the Timeworn Peisteskin Maps are designed for full parties). So if each player has a sufficiently leveled DoH class, that's 8 in an 18 hour period without having to buy from the market boards. But it seems people love to complain about the worst case scenarios on the forum.
This is how I and my friends are looking at it. All of us have a gathering class leveled (or in progress), and we plan to do them as a group when we all have a treasure map.You can also do the treasure maps with groups (in fact, the patch notes even say that the Timeworn Peisteskin Maps are designed for full parties). This is SE we're talking about.
Remember the XP penalties for playing more than 4 hours back in 1.0? Or the 36 hour Levequest timers?
According to SE's designs, you're only allowed to have fun once per day, six days a week. Anything 'endgame' related also must involve a minimum of 3-6 months of grind to test your patience before deciding if it was worth paying a subscription fee for.
Sorry, not even FFXI has these long of a cooldown on "side" content these days. xD
No, but I do recall it dropping you to 0 after a week since gaining Skill Points was a random occurrence.
Its and 18 hour lock out cause.......
SE just cant handle BOOTY.
The "lockout" is on picking up the maps. every gatherer on the server can find one each day, and a smaller (probably) number of people might buy maps to get more treasure, so it will be a source of income for gatehrers.

Only the level 50 map is for full parties, all lower level maps are solo maps. And everything but gear drops will be split equally between all members. You can also do the treasure maps with groups (in fact, the patch notes even say that the Timeworn Peisteskin Maps are designed for full parties). I hope there won't be too many griefers who join treasure hunt parties pretending they have a map, and then when it's their turn to use the map, just drop party.

I doubt it. The rewards they listed:
EXP. Worthless. All party members will receive rewards such as EXP, gil, Allagan tomestones, elemental shards, and gear. The contents of the treasure chest will vary depending on the type of treasure map.
Gil. Picture shows 423 Gil, I assume this is the second best map even though there is a party (the recommendation is just a recommendation), hardly worth running out to look for. Room for improvement? Sure, but I doubt the highest tier of map will suddenly skyrocket that Gil.
Tomestones. Philosophy are ridiculously common, Mythology have a cap.
Elemental Shards. Thanks, I guess?
Gear. Yay. If it's high quality gear I'll be pleasantly surprised, assuming it's even gear we can sell. Though I guess that doesn't matter if you're just selling the map itself.
Seems awfully reminiscent of ANNM so far... Except they missed off crafting materials, if you could get some Potash from this it would have been good, though like I said, Philosophy are ridiculously common now. The only materials that I see having any major value though, are the new ones, and those all seem to be Housing focused (even ignoring everyones rage, I don't expect the furniture market to take off until personal housing hits), and unless they're rarer than current Unspoiled materials, they're worthless. Heck, high quality materials are the only ones with real value now, and furniture certainly doesn't seem like it'll be requiring high quality materials... Ideally this could have been something like ISNMs and Wootz ore, but there is nothing like that in this game currently, and there wont be because RMT... Sigh...
This is still something I'll enjoy, but the rewards really don't look great... Maybe the gear will surprise me, though... Still somewhat disappointed though, for the most part I don't bother with regular nodes unless I need Shards/Crystals, I was really hoping, given its completely random nature, that Fishing could benefit from this anywhere, but instead I'll have to go out of my way to visit a non-profitable Fishing hole and have to deal with the completely random nature of it, for something that almost assuredly isn't going to pay off... Not to mention keep track of a bizarre 18 hour lock out, if they've added that to the timers menu it's all good though, but so far the timers menu isn't really living up to the name...
