the 1 problem was calling this disgrace FFXIV , because FF series are (were) top quality games , but since sakaguchi left the series lost the "fantasy" ....dont get me wrong the last titles werent bad just different......

FFXIV was rushed , and now when ppl see a new FF title , remembers how FFXIV sucked , and blame SE for that.......

DQ series are sold out in seconds , because every1 remember how amazing the series are.

FFXIV means what went wrong with SE .............

Knowledge is power. However passe (sorry, no accents due to sheer laziness) this phrase may be, it's true. The information was out there. There were videos and reviews, biased both for and against this game. I purchase absolutely nothing before doing the most thorough research I possibly can, simply because my money is worth something to me. I work hard for this ***.

That being said, I had the experience and knowledge to make an informed decision *before* I preordered the game. Once open beta was out, there were no NDAs - anyone and everyone could see what was going on, what sucked and what didn't. This game was no surprise.

Yet I still bought it. I made an informed decision, however irrational to someone else it may be, but the fact is I bought it. And I would buy it again today. Not because of a blind love for SE/FF, but because I know it's a brand new game with tremendous potential.

While there is no doubt that it was common knowledge that this game was hardly finished upon launch, I don't see what that really has to do with the "whiners". Obviously, I'm not too much of a complainer, being that I have a total of what, five posts? Still, let's use myself as an example.

I, too researched this game quite heavily, I played both closed and open beta, I was in a shell preparing for endgame activities before the game even released. I was and am fully aware of the issues, both past and present. I was willing to look past and wait for changes, like many others. Square Enix has had my trust as a gamer, much like any reputable car dealership, thus the analogy. Which is why I, and many others expected the game to have, you know, content, or maybe the countless menus would have been axed by now. No? An auction house? You see where I am going.

My point was always that these "whiners" are within their absolute right to complain in any fashion they see fit. While I agree it might be annoying or even childish in some cases, it doesn't shock me. I might not voice it as loudly or as often as some, but I agree with the vast majority. What's happening is, time is passing, and while changes -are- coming, look at the amount of time it has taken to take the two or three baby steps leading up to this battle system revamp.

Lastly, I agree that this is a beautiful canvas to be painted upon. Really, this game could be one of the best mmos yet, given more time. The real question is, at what point do we stop saying "give it more time" and start moving on?

I don't think anyone here needs hand holding. If you can't wait, you move on. If you can, you stay.

The worst kind of people are those who can't manage to move on without months of verbal diarrhea both in-game and on the forums. It's like an addiction you can't break without hating the drug first.

You only really see that in well established MMO's though, but here too in smaller scale.

Wish I knew how to answer that as there is no definite period. A month? 2? A year? An arbitrary date means nothing on a personal level, and judging by some of the more heated discussions I'd say people have a very personal investment.

So I'll go with it just "clicks" in one's head that it's time to go to greener pastures.

edit: And I bring up personal involvement because I'm sure, whether most people realize it or not, this game represents an escape from reality - which for the most part sucks. Believe me, if I could cast thunder outside of the game, I would gladly trade the ability to jump for it :P
