yea try playing since launch of 1.0. My husband and I have saved every last gil we have in hopes of housing. Before 1.0 went down he had roughly 70 Mil and I had around 30 Mil, pretty good right? Well SE didn't like it, cause they took 27 Mil of my gil and tried to call it redenomination. Yea only problem with that is 1 gil still equals 1 gil, its not real currency!!! So we got a gil wipe but were told it would NOT effect our chances of affording housing in the future. We were even told that in 2.0 1-4 players leveling from 1-50 would be able to afford a small house with the amount of gil they earned.
Guess they failed to mention that it only works like that on new servers and us Legacy folk are STUCK on Legacy servers.
I've loved this game for years, but this just makes no sense at all.
Never mind, the RMT will have a field day selling gil to people who want to buy houses.
You stupid idiots SE.
These are supposed to be houses for FCs, not personal. Expecting to only pay 10mil for even the smallest one is just being absurd.
The prices for Balmung/Excal/Hyperion/Rag/Sarg are perfectly fine for small and medium, though they could use a reduction on the large.
The prices for the other bundle legacy servers is definitely too high, not sure why it's different. I haven't seen the prices of the houses for non-legacy, but I can only imagine they're quite fine as they are too.
Just change all legacy to be the same price, and reduce the cost of a Large 5th class to about 150mil, that would make Large 1st class around 225mil. Also taking into consideration the price drop every 6 hours.
Now, with all that said, I think guild housing has always been a terrible idea. Bring in personal housing already.
Edit: Just looked up prices for the non-legacy servers, these are more than affordable. All the small plots are 10mil or below, which to me is incredibly surprising. I think they should be higher than that.

I can't stress this enough this is not for me personally but my FC. I am the master and as such am making a reasonable post of this topic to express my disappointment. IMO personal housing should be much much cheaper but FC housing for any size plot of land should have never been more than 20mil gil to begin with. Since it is so high even for the smallest plot of land I have to either give up on housing for now since my FC is not able to work 24/7 making gil in this game and I don't expect them too. We have 4 mil between the group of us and I think that is just fine. WE may make a few more bucks here and there but not 20 to 40 mil gil and the instances will only be opened up as SE see's fit. That can be months or even years before we see an increase in Tier 5 plots of land for sale.
Edit: just because all the 20mil gil plots are sold out does not mean SE will automatically make a new instance and offer more of those to be sold right away. They may decide to sit on it till the larger ones sell out. In that case it really could be years. Not likely but take the hard approach it just could.
Or you know..... you can buy a smaller house on the block..... why is it that you MUST have the biggest baddest most gigantic FC House on the block if youre a small FC????
These are FC Houses, not personal. Youre supposed to all work hard and combine your money to buy one. The more members you have the more money you can probably get....
If youre a smaller FC.. buy a smaller house!!
uugh!
I believe there will only be so many spaces for land at the sizes initially anyway. More added later if there is a demand.
yep, for only 20 millions!! (on legacy servers). Im sure the smaller FCs will be able to afford it easily. I mean, Yoshi thinks everyone in a Legacy server is flooded with money, even if he's a new player and not a legacy one, and he is never wrong! Never!Or you know..... you can buy a smaller house on the block..... why is it that you MUST have the biggest baddest most gigantic FC House on the block if youre a small FC????
Musta missed that part where on servers where there is a huge amount of gil in circulation, its only being circulated by 5 people or something...
And if you missed the money rush on the market for certain things, you can just buy it later when the prices drop.
These prices will most likely be for the people who have been preparing from the start for these things. Like the FCs that were having lots of Philosophy sales, who absolutely MUST have a house MEOW!

Not enough Facepalms
How am i gonna make gil in this game when noone is buying Potash anymore & whats the point crafting furnishing when noone can buy a house...
lol SE
These are ridiculous prices, and the prices on the legacy servers and higher-tier 'new' servers are frankly insulting.
I have wanted so much to have a personal house from the beginning of 1.0. They *gave* us mog houses in XI, I wondered why they couldn't do the same in XIV. But when they said it would be implemented, I was so excited. Even when the first hammer fell--FC only for the forseeable future, and not personal--I was still excited. Even though it felt weird that whole FCs and individual players would, at some point, be living in the same sized houses (O.o) I still didn't care.
Like OP said, this excitement of mine has melted away immediately. The dream was dead on arrival. I, and I imagine my FC, will never pay for this. Not just *cannot*. *WILL NOT*, because the demanded prices is so outrageously insulting.
Just look at total number of gil in circulation on a server, and then divide by the number of initial houses, is that it, SE? What awful planning and design.
