My prediction: SE will keep war amazingly devastating in PvP so later down the line you must do lolPvE to get PvP stuff... and that will fix the 'lack of tank' issues. /pets cat.
Lol, if you didn't use Thunder as a SMN you were a bad SMN. Thunder has the same damage as Bio, Bio II, and Miasma. With the loss of thunder, that's a total loss of 10% dps.
I didnt use thunder because I was already facerolling WP and AK, which is where i mostly used my smn. But I understand the need for that 10% in stuff like Coil and.....
I don't think you realize how smn stat priorities work or how much damage your dots do. We're losing crit on our shoes and are now stuck with spell haste, which is horrible for us. Really.... bad.
A loss of thunder for me translates to a 650-700dmg loss on a single target. That is... a lot of dmg. As a damage dealer having to output dmg in highly timed events where you need to get as much out as you can (yay to fast paced mechanics) this kind of loss is very painful.
Wth are you talking about? SMN has slow burst, but has the highest overall dps of all classes. Parser with equally equipped/skilled players confirmed that multiple times.
I rarely used Thunder in my rotation since I only use it when all other DoTs are up and I have Fester on cd. Of course it's a nerf (not 10% of the overall damage i must say, maybe 3%), but SMN dps was the highest.
Now it's Ruin II spam when you have DoTs/Fester up for more burst (that is actually what SMN lacked) and 2% less overall DPS (to be proven).
I think it's still the best ranged DPS in the game (if you can use it).
About BLM, lol, Blizzard 2 was useful only in rare occasions, like little damage+bind on Garuda feathers as they popped, or emergency damage on Tonberrys against the king. I've never used it in my AOE rotation.
I always do Fire 3 (AF3) > Fire 2 spam X times > (Swiftcast) Flare on low MP > Transpose/Convert > Blizzard 3 > Filler > Repeat
That's the highest damage AOE rotation for BLM and it doesn't have Blizzard 2 in it. It's the best even now, pre-nerf.
Blizzard 2 used to be spammed by noobs to do easy aoe damage with no mp consumption and no brain usage. It was never the best source for dps.
The only stupid change in this patch is Rain of Death for evasion instead of damage.
Lol. Learn to play SMN before saying such wrong things. Spamming RUIN 2 ? Not using thunder ? What are you smoking ?Wth are you talking about? SMN has slow burst, but has the highest overall dps of all classes. Parser with equally equipped/skilled players confirmed that multiple times.

You know, instead of doing thunder you can use Ruin2 a couple of times (in the same time it would require to use 1 thunder). You still lose some dmg (if it doesn't crit, otherwise you gain dmg) but you'll have more burst outcome and blind to help the tank.A loss of thunder for me translates to a 650-700dmg loss on a single target. Thunder is obviously better than 2 Ruin2, I'm not saying that Ruin2 is better lol. Just saying it's a workaround for not losing much dps.
Still it's not such a big nerf on a Job that has and will still have the highest ranged dps.
Learn to read before saying such wrong things.
I said that you'll have to use ruin2 instead of thunder "now" (meaning in 2.1), that I believe is correct if you have other dots/fester up
