My biggest horror story happens repeatedly. I get an undergeared tank who pulls 3-4 groups of mobs in WP, and then starts marking them. He then proceeds to get upset when DPS AoEs and gets enmity. Usually he'll say something like, "Omg, if you don't attack the mobs I mark, I'm leaving." Seriously? There is no point in pulling 15 mobs to down them one at a time. It doesn't speed anything up. I know what you're thinking. Maybe he's marking just the tonberries so a BLM can sleep the rest. Nope, I've seen this in groups where we didn't lock anything out or even have a BLM. This is a good way to test whether it is in fact possible for a scholar to run out of mana, but not a great way to speed up a run.

    1. The number of Lv.50 classes/jobs you have says nothing about your skill.
    2. FATEs are responsible for the majority of Lv.50 "derps".
    3. Don't blame a healer if you died in red zones; that was all on you.
    4. As a healer, healing is your top priority; DPSing comes second.
    5. As a tank, your healer can only keep you alive for so long; avoid red zones, too.
    6. As a DPS, you're partially responsible for hate management, too.
    7. Don't belittle newbs for their lack of skill or knowledge; you were one of them once.

I have shiny new AK stories, stories that will make you cry at night...but let's skip them. This time my sons, we talk about Qarn.
A friend needed it for GC log, since he switched company, and the chars we're levelling together (warrior and bard) are now at the right point for it, but I wasn't really feeling like trying and DPS it, so I just went as WHM, and we DFed the rest. After a bit I notice Bard has Ballad on, while everybody is at full mana, and doesn't seem intentioned to take it off. So proceed to ask him to, since that only gimped the run, but no answer. The Ballad stays on until he runs out of mana and it auto turns off. At that point I think someone died because the group was basically outputting no damage, but anyway the situation didn't seem nice. For the rest of the run, Ballad was never used anymore, not even when needed ofc. There was a terrible mortality rate, especially the infamous bard would get one shotted by aoes most of the time; I felt sooo happy I had swiftcast since I basically had to spend half of the time raising. During the first boss, after a million raises (a lot of deaths from bees because they were taken down too slowly) and crazy heal spam boss decides there's no way he's getting away from me no matter what, so I spend the rest of the battle tanking/kiting. The last boss was a special pain due to the time it took to take him down and me running out of mana. Oh, I so missed Shroud, both for aggro and mana...

It amazes me that a Paladin would go over half of AK without using Circle of Scorn, despite me asking repeatedly for him to use it.

I really enjoy tanking everything, let me tell you. Especially the stuff I can't Sleep. xD

    Good Horror Story!

I managed to get my arcanist up to level 20 and used the low level roulette to jump into a copperbell run. Everyone says "Hello" and things go great for about 3 minutes, then the Conjurer DCs. We wait and chat for 3 minutes and the tank says, "let's just try to press on for giggle". So we press on and by gosh we WIN with no party wipes (Although I did end up kiting the tiny puddings as the last guy standing). Fun was had by all three of us, thank the gods for Physick!

    Bad Horror Story!

99% of the tanks in the game are awesome or willing to learn, so please don't take this as another tankrage story.

but.... I'm so tired of Bad WP Speed Run attempts. I don't mind when the tank tries, I can recover when the tank doesn't even say "Speed Run LOL" or something... but after the SECOND wipe without even killing any enemies maybe the tank can slow down and try just grabbing 2 or 3 mobs? I did my second ever ragequit last night and I still feel bad about it.

It's really rough when the group starts going on in chat about what a bad healer you are and you can't even respond because you're mashing powers as fast as you can while the tanks health continues to plummet from the 14 enemies attacking him...

I am new to healing in dungeons since I have just started leveling my Conj, but in the first dungeon you can do I was too focused on the tank so the Arc died about 10 minutes into the dungeon. Before I could say my bad he just types "........" and leaves. I know I should have been watching the DPS too, but it is the first dungeon and we had only been playing for 10 minutes lol.

That's bad to hear. The reason I still do WP as tome farming method, apart from being a grumpy habitudinary, is it's the only DF run where I meet nice people amost all the time. True nobody ever announces speedruns, but guess cause now that's the standard way to go, but usually if a tank happens to die on a pull slows them down after, in my experiences, and no blame to the healer.
Lately all of my DF stories but the WP ones have become horror, guess that's why I don't use roulette and I'm ignoring new content :/

I find it very odd for a warrior to depend on sacred soil to tank a Ultima Bane Boss. I've always used it whenever I could, mostly on the tanks + melee's nearby. (As well as a fey covenant macro w/ it) Yet despite the many sacred soil I've placed, this barnacle claims ive never used it once aaaand it was the cause of his death. (????????) Last time ive checked, if I was on this warrior toon, I would of used the defensive cooldowns during "The Momment I saw the WhiteMage + 4 other pt members Die to a lazor" (Him included of the four)

Why do tanks have to try to eat aoe indicators. . . Why. . . .. . .

I have a shiny new healing horror story to share.

So I was Garuda EMing yesterday. Been trying to beat her for a few days now but every time I DF the fight, there's always at least 1 person who messes up and we can't clear her. My party yesterday was ESPECIALLY bad. I pull a JP party out of the hat and I'm thinking "ok this shouldn't be too bad" since in my experiences JP players have tended to be better than english speakers. MT pulls Garuda and we're all doing out thing. Things are fine until her sisters appear. USUALLY, the MT takes garuda and suparna while the OT takes chirada for the dps to kill. This party went a whole other route though. The tank didn't bother grabbing chirada at all and just dragged Garuda away while the OT took one sister and our squishy dps took the other one. (Note: Our party composition was 1 monk, 2 bards and a BLM) That phase was pretty easy to heal through though so I didn't think much of it.

    So we get to her last phase before she repeats her pattern. (For those wondering, 5 whirlwinds in an X pattern) I'm thinking, maybe they'll do it right this time. Instead we go back to the bards tanking one sister, the MT tanking garuda while the OT has the other sister. Of course the squishies are dying like crazy now because it's the final phase and they all have a few more mechanics than before and the monk is busy dpsing down the OTs target like he should be. So we wipe and this cycle happens a few more times before I decide to quit. =_=;;
