    Templar already has an existing (slightly) recurring presence within the FF games (the Tactics games, at least). There aren't really any other spear using tanky-types, though a possible name to use would be "Defender" if you wanted to go for a job without the religious overtones.

    Works in this game as a class, and it's best stat growth is in fact defense.
    I would love to see this working out as a very Avoidance based class, through Parrying TONS, and having ON-Parry skills that either, increase Damage Dealt, Buff the Templar's defenses, Add a de-buff.. Etc.

    Neat. From the description of that class, I could see Templar requiring Conjurer as it's level 15 class requirement. Sorta like a paladin-lancer.
