Is 1.18 the final straw?

I have already stopped playing, or paused actually mostly due to boredom and monotony but also because I actually do not want to level any further under the current system. I am looking forward to the changes they have announced and will definitely log in again after Patch 1.18.

If the changes are significant ie., Class Changes, Battle Mechanics and Content, I may just start a new Character to really get a good feel for the "newness". If the changes are insignificant or esp. if they make the game worse, I will "pause" again till the next patch.

I am already tired of being a guinea-pig for SE and pretending to be a game developer on these forums (yes, sour grapes cuz no one liked my ideas) but I am perfectly willing to give them all the time they need to make FFXIV great. I just don't need any more stories of "how horrible the game was back when it started" to tell new players. I have plenty already.

I hardly play as it is, but if 1.18 is a disappointment it won't make me completely give up, although it will once again lower my expectations unfortunately. I want the game to succeed, but I think the game is reaching a point where we need to see some major changes rather than the minor stuff they have been adding up until now (Not saying they didn't help the game become more enjoyable, they definitely have). I think the last straw for me is if SE doesn't follow through on the list of changes they said will be completed by the end of the summer. They will have had plenty of time to work on and add everything on that list, so if they end up delaying bits and pieces from that list it will completely crush the hope I have left for the game, as well as my confidence in Square-Enix, which has been falling lately as well. I really, really hope that isn't the case though, this game has so much potential, it would be a shame if it were wasted due to poor management.

And yeah 1.18 is pretty much the end of the road for me unless SE comes out with a miracle.

Wrong. lol i wish it were going to be a big great patch that will fill all of our ls's with former players that left and new players that heard of the wow awesome 1.18 patch that magically turned this aweful game into something worth bragging about but its not.

Soooo many ppl have there hopes up and man your gonna be dissapointed big time!
It most likely as another said in this thread, will be a part of the battle changes, some blah blah glitch fixes, the 1/2 done dungeon content and a bit of the oh so highly anticipated yay yay yippy companys, and thats about it, man i cant wait!

Not for 1.18 but for the backlash on forums afterwards LMAO its gonna be far more fun spending time here then in game after the update on june 30th.

PS. I dont mean to be the bearer of bad news but ppl that are thinking to much of this patch then its actually gonna be..
your setting yourself up for a big let down its gonna take a year+ to see any change in this game.
I've accepted it and moved on, forums are far more enjoyable then the game even the loyalist know that, thats why you see thoes that defend it have 1,000+ post on forums and not playing. =P

Well patch 1.18 may not get your LS back into the game, but it will get me back into it. I've been waiting for the battle changes and the dungeons, because I didn't want to level up with "broken" system and I wanted something to do when I got to level 50.

About the bolded part, the stuff you listed sounds good to me. The battle changes we're been waiting is coming, it sounds like the only the animations won't be ready by 1.18, well duh there's gonna be some gitch fixes it's a patch, we don't know if the dungeons are .5 done, it most we'll have 1 or 3 dungeons to tackle at rank 30 and 50, companies sounds like a good thing too, more storyline and more ranks to go up in and more competition between city-states(I hope!). Also you're forgetting the quest hubs, the hubs will add to the environments and give even more content.

Anyway when patch 1.18 comes out, while you're on this board trying find people to laugh at, hopefully I'll be far away here enjoying a game that's finally becoming something.

ok 1.18 IS the straw cause if battle isnt fun then the game isnt fun....so it will be the straw....but not to say good content isnt also on the way after but yes battle in necessary and if it fails alot wont come

Actually Vesperia is gifthorse they both said they were one another.

And why do people act like Companies != dungeons? they are quite clearly now the initiation of dungeon content much like the Adventurer's Guild is the initiation of leves. So don't get your hopes up that companies are something completely different because they aren't, they are one and the same, because I see people acting as if, "omg look at all that content we're getting, dungeons AND companies! wowza!"...

Well sir if you had a brain you would have noticed gifthorse hasn't been posting for awhile and just today started posting again. His lodestone medals didn't show up which prove he was banned, because I know for a fact that someone else got banned and their medals aren't going up. Also Vesperia come out and said he was gifthorse, also gifthorse pretty much implied to he was Vesperia. So get your facts straight.

Gifthorse's medals haven't been showing up for a few days now, his ban was lifted today because he posted. Anyway what is the big deal? who the hell cares who is who?
