    Don't get your hopes up.

It may not be my "final" straw, but I find very few reasons to sign on today. I do not expect the game to be awesome anytime this year. Their track record is beaten into my brain from ffxi. It took years for any change to come. The sad thing is, they all talked like xiv wouldn't be like xi, when it is.

Its nothing like XI...XI is better than this game in every aspect. One thing that absolutely pissed me off is Tanaka and company would say, before the game was released, that guildleves were these casual drop in do them and get out sort of deal where in reality the entire game was based around them...they made them sound like they were for the casual crowd when in fact they had nothing else really planned aside from leves to begin with. They made them sound like they were revolutionary, and "please look forward to them", when they've been done a million times before. I wish XIV was more like XI...screw leves and the entire system behind them. I only hate them because they take center stage because they're actually a good idea but they should be made strictly solo and not give way too much SP and have other content that does that that isn't repeatable quests that are lame to begin with.

leves werent center stage initially, people asked for them to be the main form of progression. Used to be you got more exp in wandering parties. They were initially ok, exp, pretty good for when you didnt know what to kill, and learning the ropes. mostly they were money, and items, and to unlock faction leves.

People bitched, said they loved leves and it should be the main progression, or simply didnt know about parties and assumed the roaming monsters werent good exp.

If you love ffxi, you should play it, its still there, im giving it another spin now, and for me, it aint really all that. I really hope they dont copy ffxi, while it had its time, it needs to stay in its lane.

Its funny you only said this cuz you got a little touchy I was hating on FFXIV. I know FFXI is still there but if I wanted to play FFXI I wouldn't have stopped played 4 years ago. I wanted a new FF...but it doesn't mean take everything good and throw it out the door. For instance, in FFXI the way the game had you progressing was through different zones at various levels in your progression: 10 Valkurm, 20 Qufim, 30 Batalia or Jungle, 40 Cnest, 50 Boyhada, etc. Now if FFXIV did this too, even with leves being as main as they are, they wouldn't be so mind numbingly boring.

Leves to begin with may not have been "center stage" but what did SE expect when they made it useless to party up for leves? of course people were going to bitch, there was no difference between solo leves and party leves, hardly any anyway. They should have made leves solo only, screw the party system they have in place and they should have made something else for ranking up, not mundane repeatables.

I have already stopped playing, or paused actually mostly due to boredom and monotony but also because I actually do not want to level any further under the current system. I am looking forward to the changes they have announced and will definitely log in again after Patch 1.18.

If the changes are significant ie., Class Changes, Battle Mechanics and Content, I may just start a new Character to really get a good feel for the "newness". If the changes are insignificant or esp. if they make the game worse, I will "pause" again till the next patch.

I am already tired of being a guinea-pig for SE and pretending to be a game developer on these forums (yes, sour grapes cuz no one liked my ideas) but I am perfectly willing to give them all the time they need to make FFXIV great. I just don't need any more stories of "how horrible the game was back when it started" to tell new players. I have plenty already.

Final straw no... I bought it recently basically knowing what I was walking into... but I think this will go the same way XI did, started off crap and became much better over time... do I log in often right now? of course not, it's boring as hell, but with all the potential this game has, and with all the fan base pushing it forward, it will mature into what it was meant to be, just like XI did. It will just take time. until then... it's free and pretty to look at, can't complain too much.

I agree. The new team have worked a lot to repair the game. Yeah, now I doubt to log in because I know what will happen. Static leve party, craft and maybe pick up the miner for an hour. But I can understand it's too difficult to rebuild a game so I'll wait patiently for 1.18 and the others before the end of the summer. When the summer ends, I'll make the decision of stay or leave

Play the game less until it's ready. Best advice to keep the game fresh. Otherwise you'll be on top of everything. Find other things to do with your time. Video games aren't the only things to do in the world. There's a whole world out there, start your own final fantasy In real life.

We all talk as if we will never hear about FF XIV again if in our minds we decide "o well its summers end and the game still sucks I'm out". We all know if that game got better no matter how long it took we would eventually be back to if not play regularly but to try it out. I say if you like it play it, but if your not enjoying yourself pick up a different game you enjoy and just keep and ear and eye open for FFXIV updates.
