As long as SE are incredibly strict on the punishments doled out to people who abuse the votekick feature, we'll be fine.
Because the punishment should be really bad. (Thinking day in gaol at least, for any incidents past the first warning).

Who cares if people watch cutscenes? I mean really?
There should be an option to turn cutscenes off, even just that you haven't seen.![]()
I wonder if duty roulette will also have options like normal duty finder. I'd like to be more than likely to end up with a party that's simply questing for story because speed runs after work doesn't exactly feel enjoyable to me.
Just the thought of kicking someone from a party for watching a cut-scene is disgusting.
Why in god's name should there be a punishment for those who are playing the game how it is meant to be played?
The problem is that they are giving ultimate power of another persons fate over to the average player. For whatever reason you want to claim the players now get to designate the conditions for play.
The system probably wont track the how and why. It will be a feature that is instigated by the players and it will be up to the others to use it with proper morals which to be honest means it can be manipulated.
The problem is that SE don't understand the utter selfish and self-centred attitude of many 'western' players. I doubt very much that any such 'CS-watcher kicking' will happen on JP servers, by and large JP players are not like that, on the NA/EU servers I expect it'll be common place.
We checked on this with the UI team who informed us that the kick option cannot be used until 5 minutes after the start of the dungeon. However, even if a player is in a cutscene, the kick feature can be initiated if there are enough votes to support it. You have to consider the fact that if it was not possible to kick people that were intentionally going AFK while watching a cutscene, then there would be more issues.
That said, as stated by Yoshida previously, we will take abuses of the system seriously and will take action against those using it for malicious purposes.

Surely your systems know when players are in cut-scenes given how it says so in the Party List - cant you simply disable the kick function on players in cut-scene?
I mean Im still on my first run through here and havent even got near the "end" of the current V2 storyline and thats before its expanded with 2.1 so obviously I'm gonna be watchin Dungeon cutscenes when they come up, seems unfair I could get booted for wanting to enjoy the main selling point of the FF games - the story!
Or could you add a Duty Finder option that allows groups to be formed where all players want to watch cut-scenes?
As far as reporting goes, do people need to keep track of everyone they were with, or are names and their worlds automatically logged on SE's end?
If not, maybe have a log for players to view somewhere? Many people choose the same names across several worlds, so it can be difficult knowing which is which.
They could still get kicked the second the CS is over.
There will always be abuses. The only way to truly remove such abuse would be to make it impossible to kick someone doing the dungeon for their first time. Make so that if it's in your Journal for a story quest, you can not be kicked. Period.
