General:

• Spend some time organizing your HUD. Depending on how particular you are, this could take hours, but it's the single best investment of time to improve your experience. See some examples throughout the thread, along with players input below on how to customize virtually everything.
• Always acquire rested experience. Be sure to log out in your inn room or town as much as possible. Inn rooms in major towns must be used to get rested bonus.
• Grand Company Seals. If you're grinding fates for seals to rank up, don't forget about the "Timer" menu. It shows GC turn in items. A full list of turn in items can net you over 4k seals if HQ. Quite often, these items can be bought fairly cheaper off the wards should you not have trades leveled.

• Map. Enlarge your map, and use that transparency option when you can. Makes it easier to navigate zones or find quest markers. You can have it overlay your HUD.

• The majority of lower level items are able to be purchase directly from NPCs. When leveling crafts this will save you significant Gil.
• Build a macro to target the nearest NPC. Allows you to easily target that summoning bell, or quest/FATE NPC when large numbers of players are around. My macro is:
  • /macroicon "Target Forward"
  • /tnpc

check all the keybinds. there alot of useful ones that aren't bound by default.

Type <pos> and your current map coordinates will pop in its place, and people can then click those coordinates and it will mark their map with a flag.

If you want your rank 10 chocobo barding you have to spec down a single tree.

The one tip that I use when I play: Pay it Forward...

Avoid spamming emotes by entering motion. Example: /poke motion

To quickly blacklist the last tell (from an RMT), make a simple macro with the line, "/blacklist add <r>"

To add to customizing your UI, you can use Control-HOME to adjust the size of elements. You can adjust the size of your hotbars and background elements in the UI menu, you can change your menu sizes by having them selected.

If you don't know how to use a command type /? /*command* , this is a carry over from 11 and it will spam your chat log with the syntax for what you're doing
example: /? /pcmd, which stands for party command

more UI configure things... you can actually make macros to add or remove UI elements. This can be used to remove clutter on your screen by adding/removing things like the mini-map, duty list and hot-bars.
commands are:
/hotbar display <number> <on/off> ... on/off is an optional command when left out it will toggle the bar
/hud <element> <on/off> ...
