    Can anyone objectively tell me why it is good for me, as a player, to have these artificial limitations put in place?\

    I will state up front that I know a lot of people who have or are getting ready to bail on this game because of them. So also explain why a lower population and less money in SE's pockets are good, as well, for us long-term.

    I'll be waiting.

    Not saying I agree, but what everyone will tell you is the same thing: Artificial limitations are put in place so you don't wear out the content too quickly. If there was no limitation, you would have all the gear you wanted in a matter of days, then complain you don't have anything to do in the game anymore.

    Drop Rate...... That's how Lockouts get solved.

    Why can't bosses and End Game content be like FFXI. They need to bring HNM/NMs in the game that drop gear. Even if most are Force Pops.

    Edit Its funny that people cry they don't like to camp NMs for hours and hours, But doesn't week long locks but you in the same boat? At least with NMs you can kill them leave and do other stuff and come back and kill them again.....

    SE makes it far worse than it needs to be. They need to stop adding gear for everything and make gear last longer. Look at FFXI a lot of gear lasted 50+ levels. We don't have that in FFXIV every few levels gear is obsolete and useless. Not saying every piece of gear from every NM was the best until level cap, But it kept old content relevant and people did it many years after the content was replaced.

    You think by the time 3.0 (if we make it that far) comes out that anything we have now or in six months is going to be useful? Not unless you can use it to upgrade.

    So by adding content that relies on low RNG is better than adding content that has weekly lockouts to keep people from burning through it.

    I know a lot of people don't like low drop rates but that didn't stop people from playing and getting the gear drop. Week long lockouts on all new content is going to kill this game. FFXIV needs to take a page from FFXI and make lockouts 72hrs.

    If they alternate week long lockouts every time new content comes out it would be fine (as long as the new content drops the best gear). An then lift the cap as that content gets replaced. But don't add easy content in the game and put a week lockout on loot.

    If people choose to burn through content and have nothing else to do then they have to deal with it. But by having low drop rates it lets us do the content as much as we want while being able to be rewarded at the same time. Phil/Myth tomes drop everywhere else.

    Think one thing SE screwed up on is they should have delayed launch by a month or how ever long they needed. And we wouldn't even be having this convo.

    I'll tell you when you can tell the percentage of game population who is even all through the end game content.
