In XI is was exactly the same way. An endgame shell (guild) what ever you want to call it focused on doing almost everything in house. It was all about bringing together everyone to do things that you could not do alone. I was about improving efficiency and working together. Guild > The individual. That was the key to keeping XI alive for so long, it was the bonds formed in that game. Was the same in old EQ, Lineage, and Old WoW to an extent honestly.

XIV is tearing guilds apart left or right. The content is centered around individual progression not guild. You are forced to split up groups of friends due to forced lowman in everything, the lockouts are just another punch to the gut of someone trying to run something formal instead of a free for all random event.

I do not play for only fun. I play for my guild, I play for the friendships I made over the past 10yrs within my guild. It is why I put in dozens of hours a week outside the game doing things with my website and various other projects for my guild. This is NOT just a game, MMOs are suppost to go much further than that. Call of Duty, Pokemon, LoL are just games... a mmo is suppose to be much more. Sadly now it is not.

My FC will not allow people to do things outside FC... at least main events. Because we want to grow ourselves, we want to work together to advance, we want to strengthen the bonds that kept this guild together for now almost 10yrs. A Guild is not a social chat channel, it never will be.
