Check Your Team's Gear Before Showing Off

After I've seen a White Mage with Ifrit weapon healing through a SR, I've never complained about being "forced" into one again.

Exactly. But it is so easy for these guys to blame the guy without the gear...

I did ask. Chat just stayed quiet. Most likely they were on TS laughing it up. i wasn't "crying" over anyone blaming anything. I was making a comment about communication as a team - and while I appreciate that you listen to your chat - my post was aimed at those who do not.

Honestly, if the team was as geared as you say, then there's no reason you should have had any issue. Well geared people don't take much healing.

Most people who act like idiots "showing off" are actually terrible and take tons of avoidable damage. They aren't good, and end up being carried by healers that are forced to try to heal their stupidity.

I don't care if you have a relic +1 (I have one, too)... don't stand in fire. Use defensive CDs. Stop being an idiot. You aren't saving time, you are just being a sloppy idiot that takes as much damage as a noob tank, but think it's "okay" because you're so cool in your gear.

No- you are proof that even a total failure can wear high end gear.

I would love for that to be the case. I won't feel as bad if that is so. But I do take a lot of pride in my heals and take it personal when I can't keep a party up - regardless of how stupid they may be acting. LOL.

I have relic and still do not like speed runs and am not very good at them, usually a death or two. I make it a point to let them know I'm not great at it and they will usually opt to slow it down a bit and still get the tomes. Rather than expecting them to check your gear be proactive and let them know.

You and the other three teammates you queued with may have your relics and otherwise badass gear, but your healer - me - doesn't. I am sure others are in my shoes as well.

Don't want to be a bad apple or come off as an elitist, but we've been in many groups where we queue as 3 and end up getting a very undergeared healer whose best gear is their AF (sub 50 jewelry and weapon). We do the same thing, run through the instance so we get it done quick almost as much as if we had a relic healer, but we usually warn them before hand. We've seen many undergeared healers perform exceptionally well (some way more than relic/i90 healers), so if they can, you probably can too, especially considering healer tends to be the easiest role for that stuff.

Or they survive because they don't need heals. A geared group can clear most 4-man instances without a tank (or even a healer in some cases). We usually bring 3 DPS and 1 healer and the healer usually does nothing but DPS either (only heals in emergencies). If the "idiot jumping ranged DPS" is a shot at bard, their jump attack happens to increase their overall DPS and isn't associated with any cooldowns. Not enough bards realize this, and generally have lower DPS.

if a geared group knows their stuff, the tank should be the only one getting hit. easy heals. some groups will slow their runs a bit if the healer , or tank is not up to par with gear pulling 2 groups at a time instead of all. You see this does go both ways. Yes there are idiots who think having full dl and a relic wep makes them so uber awesome they can do a speed run in wp but lack the skill to dodge or let the tank get good aggro ect. which could be hell for a new healer. But i get the same when it comes to new lvl 50s who , because me n my healing partner Pack Rat show up. believe they suddenly have the ability to pull off a full fledged wp speed run.

You see when I go to them i do not expect a speed run. I just run dungeons for running em. But you have no idea how it sucks to see a tank with /less/ health than you and a bard saying woot we got a awesome geared blm lets speed run this thing. Im like..... No.... 2 groups tops due to your.... due to that Ill be tanking all of the mobs when i aoe because the bard think its super awesome to use foes requiem to increase my damage with a tank that cannot tank a group of mobs when i pop flare for the 1st time. I might be able to tank 4 mobs on me due to my pals heals but nooo . dont you dare.... oh well he died half way... dont you guys get it we cannot do the speed run... lets just do it normal ahhh. You have no idea how much i cringe when a group says holy shizzle a blm.

You don't come off as elitist at all. in fact you promoted my point . . . you warned them first. I'm not saying I can't handle a challenge, but it's easier to work with if the team acts like a team . . . not the usual "barrier drops . . . tank takes off like a bat out of hell with everyone else still standing there at the entrance" People keep replying to this thread as if i am bitching about the speed of the run. I'm not. I've had some seriously quick runs just today and they were a blast! I loved it - but they also communicated. My point is about the lack of communication or - when i say "Hey guys i am not a Relic +1 and only have a few DL pieces - keep that in mind for heals please" . . . and the only response is the tank tearing out and not even giving so much as an "ok".
