As Mistress is running to her spot start casting your longest lasting DoT first, and proceed in reverse order to the shortest. By the time the three DoTs (I believe at 49) are cast she should have probably dropped her pods. Tank needs to keep her in dead center of her pods. Then with two SMNs Bane, the pods should melt fairly quickly. It works with one SMN, two, and even SCH added, should be even better.
The issue we ran into there was bad RNG with Bane spreading (Bane has a 3 target cap) and little else to fight the rest of the adds

ended up dealing with it by fastcasting titan-egi after the seeds spawn and bursting them down, then using the mage limit on the rest of the group for the second wave of seeds.

This may sound elitist, but I only run dungeons via the Duty Finder. Aurum Vale is one of my favourite dungeons. The first pull inside bites if you're not paying attention to the pats and the Coincounter Boss is simple to kill as long as the tank and melee pay attention to what he is casting. This is not a hard dungeon. I am yet to fail at it.

? I don't recall ever seeing packs of 5 in AV. I think the largest pack Ive seen there was 3. Are you sure someone's not aggroing another pack or one of the patrolling groups isn't aggroing?

The last pack right before the final boss has 4 mobs, there's no avoiding it. 2 of them are larger vale banemites and the other 2 are smaller vale diremites. It can be a challenging pull for inexperienced players.

ah I think we just slept the smaller ones and killed the larger so it didn't seem like there were as many.

I've run AV a few times now, and I remember this being my preconceived notion. I went in feeling completely inadequate and not confident whatsoever. Nailed it the first time and the first thought that popped into my head was, "well that wasn't so bad." So I did it a couple more times to help some FC members out. AV is easily my favorite Dungeon in the game. Yes it is complicated for SCH heals, but not impossible. You just need a semi competent SCH who pays attention.

Just finally finished AV recently after a hell of issues. In the first runs tanks couldn't keep aggro, DPS didn't focus, too big pulls for unfocused dps, wrong positioning at coin counter, it was horrible.
Went to my FC and got myself a group, finally finished as PLD+1, BLM+1, WHM and me ûu
Awful dungeon and absolutely not nice to set the lvl down to 49 here for it really should be 50.

I'm curious -- are the people in here complaining about the challenges of AV the same ones clamoring for Extreme Mode Primals? =)

I think most of the problems folks have with AV stem from falling into a routine. You've run AK/WP a thousand times over and can do it in your sleep, but you've also stopped actively thinking about what you're doing. You step in with your sweet Allagan gear forgetting how hard the gear nerf is when you're level-capped. You fail to glance at the bar to see that Medica2, Benediction, and Hallowed Ground don't exist. AV proceeds to wreck your day.

Doing AV with a new team requires patience and education. You can teach folks to do this dungeon if they stick around through more than one death. You can't teach if people quickly point the finger at the other three players and rage quit.

Doing AV with an old team requires knowing that you've got limits -- you're playing under a level cap against some tricky mechanics. You don't have all your gear's power, you don't have all your abilities, and it's very hard to get carried in AV. Bring your mains and settle in. AV will test you.

I like the challenge and think it should stay right where it is in terms of GC progression. Then again, I'm 2nd LT with all three GCs, so perhaps I'm a little biased. =)

I'd heard horror stories about aurum vale, but never went in there, my main character was leveled when AK was the GC dungeon. With my new character, I prepared myself for the worst.

Most of the group was pretty inexperienced with the dungeon, but we had fun learning the mechanics on the second and third boss. I find comparing coincounter to the Eyes have Them fate in coerthas makes sure people know to fear the swings and swipes and then explain the last 2 abilities. I could see how the 3rd boss would suck without good AoE.

Overall, I wish more dungeons were this difficulty level. Would make people actually learn how to play MMOs.

Changing it to 50 would make it more of a joke. Everyone would have FULL AF (without Scale down), and level 50 abilities.
