Why so much animosity toward Dragoons?

It's probably been said already, but Dragoons who only do the Triple Thrust combo (and also regularly stand in the red) are alarmingly common for me. Somewhere up there with Male Miqo'te Paladins who spam nothing but Rage of Halone and forget their Oaths.

I mean, I don't mind people not playing to 100% of their potential, as long as they're trying. Clip Chaos Thrusts all you want and pop Blood for Blood only when you actually have the enemy's attention, fine. But just Triple Thrust? That reeks of laziness and not trying. Kinda feels insulting if the rest of the group are doing their best to make things smooth.

IMHO it comes down to 3 reasons:

1- Good DRGs are the rarest in this game, yet DRG is the most popular Job. Personally, I have yet to see one decent DRG let alone an actual skilled good DRG.

2- Coil is all about DRG drops, this is no joke and really makes many players blood boil.

3- MNKs, an excellent MNK can shatter the ground with their DPS, while they are also very rare, the job itself allows skilled player to shine more than a DRG Job would.

I'm not up to the point were I'm rolling through coil, but are Dragoon's really that far below other DPS classes? I know we're last right now, but is the margin huge?

It is quite a large margin no matter what anyone says. BLM is generally top then MNK/BRD then DRG. MNK has it's own form of Haste even though Yoshi says he refuses to let players have haste in this game.

You have no idea m8....no idea. My group alone saw enough DRG drops to gear up 3-4 DRGs up to full ilvl90 or close to it. Best part? We don't have a DRG in our group.

Just as many bad MNK's as there are DRG's. I actually worry more about MNK's in DF parties because there is a decent chance you get one who doesn't know how to use his moves right. In all fairness to both jobs though, not being good at your job is a universal thing.

There are like 4 dragoons for each monk I see. It's actually rare to see a Monk in DF.

Funny, from my experience I'd say there are far more bad monks than any dps class in the game.

I'm almost on the same situation as you except I've gotten at least an allagan earring.
