i would rather have the lockout be class specific rather than character-wide.

This right here is the only viable solution that I can agree with. People should not be forced to make additional characters to experience content on different jobs when one of the biggest features in this game is the armory system that allows you to play everything on 1 character. Yoshi has even said that leveling is not the part of the game he wants people to enjoy the most so why lock people out of enjoying the content on other jobs with the same character? I understand that you don't get locked out in the same way you would in coil but personally I will not run this multiple times per week if I won't get anything besides philo (because my myth is probably already capped). If the lockouts were per job I would gladly enjoy the content multiple times per week across other jobs.
This right here. I would always prefer lockouts over any RNG. Especially playing the first version of FFXIV and other various mmo's. Nothing worse then running something so many times and not seeing anything drop. I'm all for lockouts, but if they make them character wide that would be the one of the more stupid things SE has done. Should be CLASS specific then the system wouldn't be bad at all.
Most long term players in WOW had more max level characters. If you didn't get something using the group finder, you can just log in your alt and try for loot there. FFXIV is built upon you being able to be all classes and jobs so you don't have this luxury which I feel is stupid. People have more than one max level job and should be able to gear those those jobs.
