What gives the tanks the right to assume i have food and ethers on me?(i always have mega-ethers and mulled tea on me, but not the point) Again, What gives the tank the right to dictate how i spend my gil (ie replacing consumables used in DF).

Same thing that gives you the right to assume the tank will bring armor and the bard a bow.
