    Start suspending posters

I've seen posters that will argue the same topic of 50+ posts while not one person agrees with them.
Make posts attempting to start arguments or simply keep a dead argument going.
    Repeatedly take threads off topic.
It really brings the quality of forums down and honestly makes me dislike coming here to read anything other than dev responses.

I hope you the moderators will start taking some action other than simply locking threads.

I've been asking them this for a while already. These kind of users bring no benefit to the game at all since they aren't able to take part in a healthy discussion. They just want to impose their opinions and attack whoever disagree, very often also derailing topics.

Its about time for mods to start marking these ppl so, over time, they might start being removed from forum due continuous breaking of forum guidelines.

Well I don't think people should be marked for suspension simply because no one else (in the topic at least) agrees with their ideas. That doesn't seem fair to me. I think everyone should be allowed to voice their opinion, even if it goes against the popular consensus. Multiple points of view are always a good thing.

Plus, you've got to keep in mind that any voiced opinion will always have several people who agree with it, regardless of whether or not those other people actually voice their support. Not everyone who plays the game reads the forums, and not everyone who reads the forums sees every topic.

You misunderstood. Flaming/trolling are different from opposite opinions. So they are that the moderators remove them.

That's the kind of post that should end marked...lemme give an example:

Your current post is perfectly healthy to this discussion. 100% valid.

But lets say that instead you posted "Hey, you're all retard! GTFO!" This would be a classic flaming an does would deserve being removed. This is the kind of post that marking flamers would intimidate...because or the dude would stop trolling/flaming or soon enough he wouldn't be able to post for a while.

IMO this would make the forum content much more constructive and at same time reduce the load of stuff moderators have to deal.

If you think someone is trolling or making inflammatory comments, you can always report that post by clicking on the "Report Post" button located in the lower-left corner of each post. It's the button that looks like an exclamation mark (!) inside of a dark-grey triangle.

If the moderators agree that said post is indeed a violation of the forum rules, it will be deleted.

I know...but why having them to delete 1...2...5...10+ posts of a same person everyday? IMO it should have a limit for a person to be in a foul mood...and i'd love if it was visible at least for him...

If every time a mod remove a post it automatically add a warning point to that user's gauge, he will be able to see when he's about to be temp banned (gauge almost full). I've seen several forums using this kind of system and it always helped alot controling those with sharp tongue.

I'm in no way against discussions, but flaming/trolling need to be controlled...specially because these users often bring nothing good to forums.

Hmmm, a Warning Meter that fills up as your posts get deleted. That seems like a neat idea, and I can certainly see how it could help regulate behavior on the forums.

Just so long as it goes back down after a person hasn't broken the rules for a while, I'm totally in favor of such a meter.

Yep, i suggested exactly this to them (suggested by support screen, not here tho). If the person stay a month without breaking rules the gauge start decreasing...and if it gets full the user will be temp unable to post until it decreases (1 month). Would be an very simple, automated way to help mods controlling those more exalted users, lessening the load of work mods have to do and, over time, it might have users actually end moderating themselves since they will know if they need to stop trolling/flaming for a while, until gauge decreases a bit, or they are safe from getting a temp suspension.

Well I don't think temporary suspensions should last a full month (72 hours seems like a better alternative), but other than that it seems like a good idea.

Oh, I like this idea a lot. I was going to suggest a "3 strikes and you're out" policy, but a nice meter that goes up every time you have a post taken down by a mod is nice. Especially if it's part of your profile that shows up on the left side of a post so all can always see how troublesome you are - almost like a "this is how much sense I normally talk" bar.

In fact, couldn't you extrapolate this a little further, and have a positive side to the bar. Members who max out on the positive and have a lot of posts would likely be the kind of active member (that posts politely and talks sense), that SE could consider making a kind of sub-moderator to help them out potentially.
