This sounds like a pretty good idea, the meter that is... putting a little RPG into proper posting.

That's a terrible idea. You want to give everyone a monthly trolling quota? Unless there's some advantage to having an "angelic" reputation (according to the mods), what's to stop someone from deliberately taking two strikes a month, waiting for it to go back down, then saying something classy about your mother because they know they can get away with it?
And besides, unless you're in lockstep with the FFXIV apologists, something you say is going to get you banned eventually. Just today they deleted an entire thread because one post in it made a comparison between FFXIV's update schedule and that of another MMORPG. I suppose you'll say that if someone had three posts in that thread, then they should be permabanned?
I agree that the arguing is absolutely ridiculous, on account of every single thread is derailed with "if you like FFXI then GTFO" and the equally vehement responses, but I think your approach is inherently flawed.
My alternative: 1-week bans for anyone who repeats themselves with no new information (ie "if you like FFXI then leave" three times in a thread or "SE can't do anything right" without justification, etc), 30-day bans for people who don't read the OP before they start to argue with it, and 90-day bans for bad grammar.

Would be nice, but being stupid isn't against the terms of service.

Lol this thread is gonna turn into one of those threads where people argue for 50+ pages about useless crap, but I'll give my opinion so I'm not a major douche. Certain people who are not constructive should get banned, but just because someone argues about a topic for 50+ posts with 3 other people in a thread isn't automatically grounds for removal. Just think about it in a real world setting, you're with six people having a tift about differing opinions. Just because your opinions differ doesn't mean you call the police and tell them "lock him up man his opinion is different and we talk about it for two hours, so you know what take me too"

Sure you can, in lots of countries. It's actually pretty common for people who disagree with the opinions of the reigning power to be arrested or worse. Happens all the time in some countries even to this day. And even in the "free" countries with "freedom of speech" it still used to happen.Lol this thread is gonna turn into one of those threads where people argue for 50+ pages about useless crap, but I'll give my opinion so I'm not a major douche. Just the same, I would rather that S-E not start banning people just because they're not in lockstep with the company line.
