I think he means that it will display what you can BUY it from a Vendor for, if a vendor sells said item.
Correct. They are looking into making it so the price that a vendor is selling a particular item will be displayed when you go to put an item on the market board. Sorry for any confusion.

nooooooo. i make such a killing buying NPC gear and selling it on the MB.... /sadface
That is completely the wrong direction to do it. People that do not do their homework should be taken advantage of. That's savvy use of the market.
Conversely, there should be no price floor. Let the market naturally fluctuate with supply to reinvigorate sales velocity. As that increases, there will be a period where demand will push the price up. It is all cyclical.
What you CAN and SHOULD do is handle the bots which cause and prolong these types of market irrationalities. If you start goofing around with the market, you will simply make it worse.
One problem with this is that even the NPCs buy it for far lower than they sell the item. It is simple econ.....buy Low and sell High.
Oh Jesus.
-Sighs;
You guys really are making it so hard to make cash. :/
Let us play the Market. If people don't wanna do homework and look and compare prices.
That's on them. Sorry but we really need to stop having everything handed to us in this game
and having it hold your hand.
I hope I don't get banned for saying this to a Dev lol.
But come on now.
This would be ok if the NPC markets worked like XI, where there were some shops that opened for x hours and only had a limited supply in their inventory with a price increase when they had to restock a sold out item.
In 14 though this idea just continues to simplify the market in a negative way, where if you are going to pu the price you can buy the item for you might as well also add a "buy here" option in the market board itself since it pretty much is hand holding at that point.
The Dev teams has already offered a varied amount of ways to search for the item, there are player sites that show where you can buy items from, their's the official search function:
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...m/328ed8bc10d/
which list where you can buy it from.
Honestly implementing something like this just sounds like a waste of resources, there are already ways to find out what you are adding so it feels like it becomes a waste of time to implement such a feature.
Maybe that's what he means, But they have said stuff before and it was already in the game.
Even then there would be no reason to add the price it cost from a vendor. I will have to check but I think some NPCs sell stuff higher than others (I'll check been a while since I leveled a craft).
Another reason why it doesn't matter is because people will still under cut so if NPC A sells Horseshoes for 1340g player A will put it up for 1340g and player b-z will undercut..... see what I'm saying waste of data that could be used for better things.
Back to selling when you look at an item unless you can't sell it, It has the price you can sell it to an NPC same when you list the item. Either way impatient players will always undercut even if they are losing gil...
Thanks but I don't think it will help with the undercutting.

You're missing the point here - it's not about undercuting itself - majority here is fine with that (it's good for both sellers as well as buyers) - it's about the morons who list the items at or even well below the price at which you can sell items to NPCs thus effictivelly killing the market for that item. Example:
Gear Items sells at NPC for 1560 gill
NPC will buy it from you for 48 gill
Currently - there is many ignorants listing it at or around 48 - 50 gills or even lower so zero space for any proper undercuting (unless you want to sell at loss) and no profit. If the system changes to "preset" selling price to 1560 there is a good chance that most items will listed at or just bellow 1560 gill and even if someone decides to undercut by 50% - 70% you can still make more by seling it at or bellow that price than dumping it to NPC vendor which is virtually impossible with how the system is set now.
I also think they should expand the way you're posting the items for the sale - currently if you want to sell let's say stock of 200 ore in then set of 20 you need to add them one by one (10 times) and set price and amount for each individually. If they'll add one more line / dropdownbox to select how many times to list the item at set amount and price (1-20) it will speed up posting of multiply items and also alow some of those "lazy" sellers out there to sell at other amounts than just 99![]()
