+1 to this. I'll make my final decision when they decide to start charging monthly for the game. Until that time, I am fairly happy with the rate of updates and their outline for what's to come.

Exactly, how can you really be mad when it's free. It's like getting mad at Minecraft.
The game wasnt free, it just doenst charge additional fees while having the few remaining people beta test.
It was a rip off and we can only hope it will be a least an ok investment. If it was free i think it would have been shut down since nobody would care at all. People only cared because they payed for the box and because its a ff title. Lets face it.
No F2P mmo would have survived that - no F2P mmo would have dont that either i think lol

I paid 80 dollars for the game. (My mistake?) Some people were promised a global launch (same day) on the PC and PS3, and were let down to discover that the PS3 was delayed due to "technical difficulties" and not "a nearly empty game" so they went out and built themselves a PC just so they could play their beloved Final Fantasy game. This game was "free" if you were given a buddy pass (even then someone had to purchase a full copy of the game) but for the vast majority, it was not free.
it aint free, it cost money, up to this point they havent released enough content for a stand alone RPG, story, world and skill wise.
think about it, if you gained levels as fast as on offline rpg, how would the content they have allowed us to play measure up to a regular rpg?
the prologue in most rpg has more content then ffxiv does all put together.it aint free, it cost money, up to this point they havent released enough content for a stand alone RPG, story, world and skill wise.

Can you imagine an offline RPG with the story we have so far?
*Witness a short story in your nation of choice, afterwards you wonder "what happens next?" but never see the ending*
*Get shoved off to something completely off topic*
*Do some random missions that take maybe 1 hr 30 min total, most of which are simply "talk to x-npc, walk around some)*
*Witness an amazing cut scene out of nowhere that leaves off with you being told that you aren't strong enough for whats to come, you need to improve*
*The End*

Well, you can always just play solo and get the same experience. Can you imagine an offline RPG with the story we have so far?

Yeah! The online aspect has added so much to the story! I slowly got to 50 doing the same exact leves with the same exact monsters with friends. I got some gear with stats that mean almost nothing from friends. I stood in town wondering why I am still even logged in at this point with friends.
Yay for friends online!
LOL!!! So I just came up with a joke! "What did project rapture and the biblical rapture have in common?" "They both ended up dissaponting a lot of people..." LAMEEE! But I laughed.
My friend responded "they're both endorsed by lunatics!?" lol!
