    I've an idea in my signature for Gladiator > Dark Knight (DPS) if anyone cares to give it a read. Includes unique abilities and stance system, class ability alterations as well as lore for how they came to be in the game.

    My reasoning for GLA:
    Light and Dark contrast
    Paladin in Japanese is Knight so our Dark Knight is essentially them saying Dark Paladin
    Would like to see each class having a job that focuses on either a 2h weapon or a 1h weapon and would prefer DRK get a 2-handed sword
    "Sword specialist" in Japanese translation, also mentions adding a shield to tank (so could take off the shield to not tank)
    SE says already that they can and will alter existing skills for when certain jobs are equipped
    Dark Knight coming out of a more appropriate class thematically (people usually think of swords with knight)

    My reasoning for not MRD:
    Bloodbath is the only HP conversion ability
    Bloodbath works like FFXI's DNC Samba (doesn't drain the health but converts a portion of your damage to health)
    Marauders are pirates, a DRK pirate doesn't feel right
    They use Axes
    Would like to see them get Viking as a DPS job (maybe 1handed axes)

    This would be funny, but wouldn't it just be a case of engage and wait till mob is dead? Didn't you have no control over Berserkers? (In FFV you didn't, anyway).

    Actually, in ARR you very specifically aren't pirates. They made a point of mentioning that in the sign-up at the MRD guild.

    Only legacy characters (oh alright, only V1 characters technically) get to be pirates.

    Really? Could you link a site that has quest dialogue or some SS's? According to SE's description: "Marauders are combat specialists whose weapon of choice is the greataxe—a fearsome arm long associated with Eorzea's pirates." Even if they're no longer pirates in ARR they're at least still associated with them. But I'm still interested in reading their lore behind changing their pirate roots if you have it.

    Edit: Also would give good reasoning for Viking to be a 2nd job from MRD, going back to those roots!

    True, the class would have to be designed differently.
