I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

You'd still be able to use Great Sword if they designated it as a Dark Knight Job specific equip. There was an image of a great sword model awhile back with the diremite reveals in famitsu...so maybe thats what they had planned.
I mean Thaumaturge,Arcanist, and Conjurer already have 1 and 2 handed weapons attributed to their jobs...so its not like it cant be done right? Honestly great swords fit Dark Knights better than scythes...especially since they've been the most commonly used DK weapon in the past titles...aside from IV, where Cecil used dark swords and shields.

I dont think they'll trow away all our efforts to rank up classes i guess they'll give or leave some abbilities exclusive for that class at rank 50, that you can only use with one job especifically, like paladin getting the abbility to use defender 2 of marauder, or not being able to upgrade defender on your job if you dont have the previous one, like defender 2 to defender 3, or just an abbility that your job cant learn and its very useful for tanking, so you need to level up that class to improve your role as tank.
idk, but as it is now i think they'll be adding jobs ranking up different classes.
Not to mention the letter X clearly says introduction of Job specific weapons and gear. You'd still be able to use Great Sword if they designated it as a Dark Knight Job specific equip. I don't see a problem with allowing players to freely choose their job/class. It would allow people to have freedom to experiment.
Of course groups will still prefer certain classes to an individual role.
Ranger/Archer would be preferred over Ranger/Conjurer in the majority of groups, but what is wrong will allowing that to exist.
That way you can specialize by being a Dark Knight/Lancer or Dark Knight/Marauder but still have the same role.
Some classes will support some job roles better than others, but I don't see a problem in allowing that freedom.
To be fair, nobody can use great swords right now, let alone hypothetical dark knights.
Until they're introduced, we don't know whether they'll be a 2H gladiator weapon ( as casters get both 1H and 2H this isn't far-fetched ), an alternate marauder weapon or a new class entirely. Also, a 1H axe could be an alternate gladiator weapon, or a 1H marauder arm, or even a new class.

Then how about setting it as a two handed Gladiator arm, with specific great swords being job exclusive to Dark Knight?
