Jobs are independant your still leveling the class the job just forces a specialization/play style onto you.If they make Marauder upgrade into Dark Knight, thats just gonna be weird. Either way, I really hope once we unlock the job we want to be (for the time being) we can just stick to that job and continue to level up, rather than having to switch back and forth between class and job.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
Well of course it's coming, just maybe not initially. Maybe Lancer will upgrade into DRK? Idk, hard to determine. The list I gave makes the most sense imo.

Spoke to the dev. team to try and wrangle some more details regarding the upcoming job system. The current thinking is to have one job for one class. So for example, if you are a gladiator, the job you could unlock would be paladin, etc. Right now, we can't give any further details about the possibility of having multiple jobs per class.
To try and stave off the coming flood of "So if gladiator becomes paladin, then what will xyz class unlock?" You'll have to stay tuned for more details in the future!
So will there be any reason for a gladiator to not be using paladin? Or will all the gladiators just turn into paladins at rank 50, and we're back where we started?

Dunno.. but i'm pretty confident Marauder will be the Dark Knight (warrior job is too similar to be a 'specialization' imo). A sensation.

A lot of speculation going on about this topic. Optimizing the plan is nice, but let's not forget that little to nothing is known as of yet. I'm mainly talking to ppl who are getting way too upset about this topic.
Let's wait and see what yoshi further explains to us before we start crying wolf. It's the mature thing to do :3
*hugs*~!

We wont be back where we started since Paladin will have exclusive actions and be restricted from using other class actions apparently. So if anything Paladin will work like a standard FF job system...job.
I doubt jobs will unlock at 50 though, especially since one of the initial raid dungeons is going to be rank 30.

How about this, Gladiator unlocks Dark Knight and Sentinel unlocks Paladin.

If thats the way it ends up working, kinda sounds like the Final Fantasy 4 heroes of light job system:
Main level, but equip different crowns to change jobs at any time. The jobs only unlock skills via placing jewels in the crowns (which are just hats/helms styled after the job) so you dont really level them up by conventional means.
Honestly I just want to change to my job and stay there until I see another job I want to try. I guess the exp could still go to the job's base class while on the job?
I never thought about that...hmm...
