Sure bloody hell using Berserk + IR will net you more threat than me off the bat if you don't crit during the Berserk duration your DPS increase is lower than Fight or Flight or if a Paladin critical hits during the Fight or Flight he beats the Paladin. Defiance reduces more damage than Shield Oath, even more so if you don't have maim up.

You only swap to nails in Ifrit if you do not have a SMN/BLM, why the hell you'd want to swap when a few pot shots after the meteor is enough to kill it? Shield Oath -20% damage and +20% Enmity doesn't work in its favor at all. A 100 Dmg Attack with 1x Threat multiplier will deal only 100*.8*1.2 = 96 Threat. That is why people say it is broken!
