So many memories... I am going to have to go with the moghouse theme, if only because I stopped after a few months from burn out and never got back in. I do have fond memories of higher level characters escorting me through tough zones just cause they were nice and there, and in turn I paid it forward, often returning to the desert to save groups who had pulled more mob than they could handle or caught an add.

FF11 had something no other mmo has been able to duplicate, a caring, helpful population of people willing to go out of their way to help a stranger. And why did they do this? Because the game was HARD and they could remember the struggle of going through those same experiences. Difficulty created a sense of camaraderie and belonging. You earned your place in XI and instead of flaunting it, you used it to help others... That's what I fear will never happen here, as the game is far to easy for it's own good.

now if you don't mind, I'm gonna youtube moghouse and have a nap.

    Very astute~

The difficulty of FFXI had a way of pitting the players against an unforgiving environment. And considering that virtually nothing could be accomplished alone, players had to band together or most of the game was out of their reach. Deep down, a player knew that they had few personal accomplishments to brag about as nearly everything they had came from teamwork. The typical rude power-gamer types couldn't get anywhere except by changing their attitudes and being polite and humble in asking for help. Those that didn't change, ended up leaving pretty quickly.

As they say: tough times usually bring out the best in people.
